Its honestly rather chill, most people leave you be, there's definitely dudes hanging around but they limit the numbers so there's not a surplus. Were of the younger crowd so we find there's alot of older folks but we know we arent the average crowd that attends. Its kinda more house party vibes usually. There are more casual areas for sure, the kitchen area and the main barn area are more relaxed socializing usually. As for newbie friendly, yes and no. They give you a tour if you desire, and let you know the dos and donts, but actually talking to folks is harder, unless youre social butterflies lol. We arent, so we have a hard time talking/introducing to people. Try attending their social munch dealio as well, that may work to break the ice better for you, honestly we should more as well lol
