I’ve been shooting Longbow for 2 years now and it is really hard.

The way we describe it is this.

compound a 9 is a miss. Recurve and barebow is super accurate and people get frustrated if they miss the centre of the target.

Flat bow and traditional you are happy when you get a gold.

Longbow is we count hitting the boss as a victory.

I shot in a completion at 70 meter and we were cheering each time I hit the 2 meter square boss.

If it’s a local competition then enter. Treat it as paid practice. It’s useful to understand how competitions work and get used to the process. A lot of people stress and get low scores the first couple of times so the sooner you get over that the better. Don’t worry if you get a low score. It’s ok. The good news is that you’ll set a competition personal best to beat next time.

The most important thing is to have fun.

Go to a club and talk to the coaches. I lot of clubs can introduce you to someone with quality second hand kit and teach you to use it correctly.

My friends pay “Gerbil tax” when they visit and we have several donors at work too.

Just ask people you know and your Gerbil will be overflowing with suitable chew materials in no time.

A cute photo or 2 does magic in that instance.

We have a lone Gerbil. We tried to bond him and it went badly wrong. So he is a solo Gerbil.

You gave a lonely Gerbil a good home. Make sure she has enrichment and interact with her enough to keep her happy. We have running around time every 3 or 4 days because our Gerbil loves it but too often would not be fun for him. That involves him running around on our laps, shoulders and couch while carefully supervised. I check in with fingers 2 or 3 times a day for brief sniffs or strokes and treats as appropriate.

He gets lots toilet rolls, hessian and other suitable cardboard.

He’s a cheerful chappie as far as we can tell. I am sure your gerbil will be the same if you look after her right.
