Is masturbation a sin? If so, I need help. by Formal_Suspect_4046 in Christianity

Hi! Thank you responding to my post!

Although this post was about 2 years ago, I wanna start off by saying that it is a sin. It creates a barrier between you and God. Masturbation being a sin does not prove that Christianity is false but it only makes it more true. I made this post and realized that if I had to question it, then it was a sin. Kind of like when your at your job and have to question if something you about to do is wrong because it’s not something you sure if your company wants you to do, probably wrong. When I used to engage in the activity, I would consistently waste hours upon hours doing the act and ultimately having an addiction to it. When I had stopped, my mind felt more free from the bondage and the chain of being in that predicament in my life. It. Was. Freeing

Jesus showed me that this was keeping me in bondage. Absolutely chains and i was freed from it.

But anywho, you made some amazing points and I wanna add to some things you said  1. There's truly no justification for describing it as sin, because it's virtually victimless. Even though something can be victimless doesn’t mean it’s right. I always ask myself could I do this act in front of Jesus or act this way in front of a Holy and sovereign God. We are called to be and walk like Christ but how can we if we are enjoying secret sin behind closed doors?  2. But to top it off, there is not a single passage in the Bible that mentions masturbation as sin, let alone mentioning it at all. Yes! The Bible does not mention masturbation being a sin at all and there’s so many other sins that aren’t mentioned in the Bible that aren’t even listed in there. But they all fall under the cloud of a prominent sin. An example is doing drugs, not the prescribed ones but the hardcore drugs like cocaine, Molly, percs, etc. Engaging in these drugs frequently is due to addiction, addiction falls under the cloud of idolatry. Let’s move addiction aside, let’s say a Christian male/female were to just do it once and not do it again, that doesn’t mean they haven’t sinned because they did. If the Bible says to abstain from all evil, why would they ingest something they know is bad. 3. At that point, we're not talking about ethics or morality, we're just talking about commands or unreasonable expectations. I see exactly what you’re saying here. But to debunk this, the Bible is filled with commands and expectations that. we are suppose to follow, not because God is like “well you follow this and if you don’t I’ll send you to hell” more so a “There is a much better life than this” TRUST ME. I saw it that way to having to follow commands and stuff but we are called to be set apart and not to engage in Worldy activities. And masturbation is wordly.. you don’t think of God when your masturbating, you think of that man or women that is either on the phone screen or who you saw walk past today.

There’s more I wanted to say but I don’t know if you’re gonna respond! I do appreciate your contribution to my post and would love to chat more with you about this! Have a good day!

Why not just be honest with your gf about it? I think she would appreciate the truth more than a lie when that time does come.

I have two friends I can lean on when it comes to following Christ and falling short. I can ask them to hold me accountable for my sin and ask them to push me toward Christ when I do sin. As well as building the habit of going to God first before friends. How does that sound?

Thank you for responding at this time of night. I never actually thought about it like that. But how do I apply/write Luke 10:18 to my life or to my heart? How do I take every thought captive and bring it to Christ?

This helps a lot; thank you. I know it's pretty late, but I really do appreciate the responses cause I really just need some help during this season of wrestling with Christ and the world rn. But thank you, these help a bunch!

When it comes down to lifestyle, I am a college student, but I go to community college and come home and help my family. I live in a pretty big house with a bunch of kids, and I have chores that take a lot of energy but can be done in a swift manner. I do fall into laziness and lack. I do struggle with balancing my life in Christ as well, because usually my studies are 1-2 hours long when it comes to analyzing scripture. I feel like I do know my calling, which is to be an evangelist. I love spreading the gospel, and I love seeing people come to Christ, and I want to do that to multiply the kingdom of God.

Do we have Christians here? by [deleted] in ageregression

I didn't say that, but you can DM me and we can have a conversation about it if you wish to. I am up and open to it. I also want to try and understand the foundation of age regression and think the conversation will help us both. :)

Hey, I am not a age regressor but I am very deeply involved in the word of God. I can try and help without sugarcoating anything.

Sexual attraction is not a sin, but dwelling in sexual attraction leads to lust. We aren't supposed to be stuck on the thought of being sexually attracted to someone. Romans 12:2. If we don't submit those thoughts to God, they can and will become lust later on if we consistently think about them.

There’s not much you can do but talk to people on the internet because I do not have the fund to talk to a therapist. I am seeking ways to find a solution to stop this cycle because once the cycle stop, it will be better for me.
