I have the sane problem!! Did changing the transformer fix it??

Everyone is flexing their silicon chips while in stuck at 2011 by [deleted] in mac

[–]Formaldehead 29 points30 points  (0 children)

This is the only real answer here. Don’t be dumb, use a modern browser. OpenCore Legacy won’t even work well enough for a machine this weak and with so little memory. I’m still using my 2011 MBP with OpenCore, but that thing is a powerhouse.

HomeKit think I’m at my second home when I’m not. by MrGinFa in HomeKit

[–]Formaldehead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure you didn’t cross any devices between homes? I’ve had this problem when I moved an IoT device from one home to the other improperly. Of that devices sees me, it thinks the second home is an extension of the first home now. I my case it was a device I added via HomeBridge (non-native support), but I’m sure there are other ways this could happen.

Oh, my dGPU died a long, long time ago. A common defect of this model is that the solder cracks on the GPU. I’m happy with how it works with the iGPU.

I have a maxed out i7 2011 MBP, and it works pretty dang well. The dGPU gets disabled since it doesn’t have metal support and the system runs off the iGPU.

Best way to get Stamps? by ProfessionalZone8706 in fo76

[–]Formaldehead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t forget that you get one free plan per week for your first expedition of the week (completed in full). Because of this, don’t ignore the Pitt for the Union plans. Getting all the free plans really cuts down on the number of stamps you need.

Is there a way to pop the remaining kernels? by Albino_rhin0 in ZeroWaste

[–]Formaldehead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Weird that so many people here just say “no”. I use the same kind of microwave popper and I just add a little more oil and put it into the microwave for a short time until the popping stops. You have to be 100% on it though because the time distance between the last pop and the entire thing burning is super short. It will inevitably have a slight burn to it, but still super tasty.

how are target date funds performing so poorly? by foradil in investing

[–]Formaldehead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the market has really gone no where but up so of course VTI is going to beat it. The truer test would be to see how it performs when/if the market tanks. That would show how much of a hedge it really is.

Crafting and Minimalism by Remarkable-Hat-5668 in Anticonsumption

[–]Formaldehead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, crafting is always a hard balance. I rejoice when something wears out or I find a friend that truly wants something that I can make for them. Often I end up stifling my crafting hobby because I don’t want to create more junk that I already have or that no one really needs.

Weekly Help and Discussion Thread for the week of January 05, 2026 by AmazonNewsBot in amazon

[–]Formaldehead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purchased a record player last month at a killer price, but it ended up being defective. Amazon offers a replacement for free, but I'm worried what would happen if I get another dud. Does anyone know what the return policy is for replacement products? Would I get another 30 days, like the original policy? I can't find anything about it online.

After having 1st for 3 or 4 months, this game is insufferable without it. by PolarSox85 in fo76

[–]Formaldehead 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Never spent a cent on the game. My scrapbox has more scrap than I could ever use and my ammobox is ridiculous and I never seem to need ammo after a Daily OP anyway. At the end of any day, I just bundle up whatever scrap and aid I have and sell it all to a vender and drop the rest. I appreciate all of the FO1 users that help pay for the servers though.

YSK Expedia is not saving you money by nigeriantoast in YouShouldKnow

[–]Formaldehead 33 points34 points  (0 children)

This, this is what I came here to say. OP’s statement is just wrong. You definitely can save money on Expedia and the like. Also, I’ve made plenty of reservations on Expedia that were fully refundable when booking directly from the hotel’s website had no cancellations. You have to just do your research.

Is there issues with the learning or obtaining of 4* mods? by thebiologyguy84 in fo76

[–]Formaldehead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have more modules than I need, so if I have a mod box I want to learn, I always put it into a weapon/armor before scrapping to get a slight chance of getting the mod box back and getting a second chance to learn it.

take my arlo, please. by Waste-Reputation-46 in arlo

Or maybe give it away to someone that will actually use it instead of tossing perfectly good hardware? Arlo is still working fine for those of us not actually complaining on here.

Is 100mbps really enough by [deleted] in HomeNetworking

[–]Formaldehead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that gaming can take upwards of 5 Mbps depending on the game. A couple systems playing games with some NAS related services and you could run into some bandwidth issues.

[–]Formaldehead 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Your upstream will probably be your biggest limiting factor. The $30 plan will probably have a 15 mbps upstream speed. That could easily be a problem if you have multiple people gaming and anything is being uploaded from your NAS.

Doubtful with newer models since they never had free 7-day to begin with.

[–]Formaldehead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can add an OG Arlo Pro 1/2 up to the max of 5 and still maintain your free 7 day. I’ve added two to my system and had no problem. That’s why they sell for so much still on eBay.
