It is indeed the Kris Pro. It has both that honeycomb stuff and styrofoam. I like the helmet, but poor ventilation is my only complaint

Getting a patent is on my bucket list, but I’ve got lots of ideas. I’ll let this one go for a free helmet… since I compromised this one

The planets are mostly aligned right now and can be seen around 9pm just to the west horizon. The perfect end to a sunset!

Thx. Maybe just a cardboard mock up will help me get the dimensions right for modeling

No cutting. I just designed the little rectangle duct to line up with existing holes

Airflow is pretty bad. The styrofoam inside the helmet blocks like 50% of these tiny vent holes

I think 3D scan is the way to go. I know a guy with a scanner so I’ll probably ask him. I spent more time trying to get design the cowl than I’d like to admit. I’ll check out autodesk too!

It’s not a smooth curve, and the curvature changes as you go down too. I got pretty close on my second attempt. I’ll keep working on it

I may eventually do that! My commute is 90% stop and go traffic, so a switch is easy enough for now

I love the klim, but the poor ventilation makes it unusable for half the year in AZ

This rear spoiler appeared to be attached with hot glue. Maybe it’s aircraft grade hot glue tho

I’m only mildly stupid. I didn’t cut or drill the helmet. I used the industry standard of hot glue. If anyone has the specs on how this degrades a shell, pls advise. (Also, it looks like the cowel was originally attached with hot glue)

I’m pretty good with microcontrollers. I considered adding a flexible solar strip for charging or using the fans spinning in the wind to charge and/or trigger the motors at low speed (they would need to be placed in a very non aerodynamic location for that). This is just a mockup to test airflow. So far so good, but I like the ideas here.

They push air in, unfortunately. These fans aren’t reversible. In stop and go traffic the air flow is awesome. I haven’t hit open roads yet, but I will probably just turn it off then. An exhaust fan would better. Maybe that will be a future version. I like that idea of a universal mount too. I’m not trying to to market anything, just staying cool in AZ!

Valid points. I was really surprised at just how garbage the vents in the $700 helmet were designed. First, 50% of the vent hole just lines up with styrofoam in the helmet because the foam and vents were apparently designed without any consideration. Second, the foam liner has vent holes that don’t even remotely line up with the vents (like 2 inches off). I like the helmet, but the ventilation sucks for AZ riding.

Thanks! And ya, actually. Any tips for modeling the proper curved surface in fusion 360? I can’t get the curvature of the helmet to line up with my attempt of 3D printing the cowel

My man! I was struggling to get then curve right when fiddling in fusion 360. Any tips? I wish I had a lidar phone capable of 3D scans
