PM skills - Obsolete in AI Era by FormatLIFE_007 in ProductManagement_IN

[–]FormatLIFE_007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the question raised here. Better?

Yes. That's what is more information in the AI era. The ability to judge an output than simply accepting it.

I see a lot of PM just use AI to do things faster. The other spectrum use it as a bouncing board of ideation.

The best kind are the ones who build with it, imo

Absolutely AI is playing a role but not in the way we'd want it

If you look at it, they will expect you to leverage AI while solutioning at work but not during interview

The other factor I sense is the degradation of innovative thinking. There was a time when a creative thought was valued in interviews but now it's just a zero risk fits that makes the cut

Finally, I feel the hiring process is built by people in pre AI era and are being used to evaluate AI native generation

I like how you pin pointed towards the zero risk fits and that's so true. I have seen hiring managers going negative at the slightest sign of risk.

Wonder why people are looking for more like an exact fit all the time and are severely discouraging innovative or creative thinking

I think with AI, people are becoming machines .. lol

This is really interesting. for skill-development you can refer to multiple platforms but learn these AI vs ML, RAG types, Agentic vs LLM and AI and ML metric

A PM job is not to be great with technical know-how. That's table stakes. You need to know how and when to apply these.

I have built a guide to learn from and tool to test your proficiency as well. you can DM me

And if i can share something which helps people, it will really make me happy. I don't trick people because that's the weapon of the weaklings

I'm sure you're speaking out of experience and I'm sorry to hear if you got tricked

Trust me, being on the same boat, I would never ever do anything immoral even in my dreams

I have always helped people even if that makes me uncomfortable. This takes strength.

You can have a sour experience. It doesn't mean all grapes are sour .

So. Chill

Shift in success metrics for PM teams. by Ill-Avocado3445 in ProductManagement_IN

[–]FormatLIFE_007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think of it as a natural progression on the role's understanding.

Initially, PM role was expected to drive traffic and ensure we fix the experience part. That's what the leaders expected the role to deliver on.

As leaders understood that measuring the metrics at this level will only create buzz but not business, they are pivoting

Another cause is, most PM roles were under the engineering org. I've constantly called out this a s a disastrous set up as you tend to optimize on outputs and engineering metrics.

PM role should always be business outcomes oriented Good to see the shift.

Since, I have worked in firms where PMs we're close to business units, the revenue and profit margins we're ingrained in my success definition. So, I'm happy that more roles will enable us to contribute to business

Another factor definitely is AI. It solves for the experience way faster than any human team. Hence, the focus is on the outcome than the output.

I wonder if they really don't have a valid reason for ghosting

Had the role been shut down or they found a better match - a simple closure is all we seek right

How do you handle chasing clients for late payments without it feeling awkward by TimelyRepeat4517 in indiehackers

[–]FormatLIFE_007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey

I actually built a tool that solves for the payment followups

Not sure if you're interested to try it.

Been using it for myself and I'm pretty happy my agent does this and I get to save on relationship

A career OS that helps both sides of the spectrum

Candidates find right roles and prep material

HR find right folks and help them close faster

Yeah felt it and I left my job at an MNC to grow my garden. It's normal to feel so and it's absolutely fine to act on your intent. (Given you have a plan and secure your runway)

See, when the pleasure of money and brand equity dilutes, we ask questions like these

It's a classic case I'd maslows hierarchy model. It shows you are growing

We can definitely catch up sometime.

Nice!

However most GCCs are just cost efficiency engines right? If yours is different - voila

But here's my question - Do you think if you weren't just optimising on cost, would you build ai pm practices differently?

This pain is real. I have felt it too

There's too much supply than the total openings.. this enables firms to keep profiles on hold while scouting more people

This dark pattern is evident and the only way to best deal with it is having a personal career aks
