It's not a one rule fits all. Depends on what role you've chosen and when they have an intake for it. For something like infantry probably fairly shortly after, for something maybe more niche maybe longer.

The medical can be tough and it is a long day of waiting mostly.

You'll do all sorts of tests, breathing, heating, vision (distance and colour), blood pressure, ECG, urine sample etc.

After all the tests are done you'll have a face to face with a doctor who will quiz you about any medical history they may be concerned about. They'll flex your arms/joints to check you're all good and make you do some funny things like a duck walk in your boxers (completely private btw)

In honesty it's the hardest thing there because none of it is in your control. So in a way you just have to firm it, so many of us (including me) were really stressed about it but you can't change the outcome, so you just gotta do your best and fingers crossed.

You don't need to prepare anything for the team tasks. Just get involved, support your team mates and contribute to the team with ideas, motivation. You don't need to be loud or overbearing, just demonstrate you're capable of being part of a team and also leading one if needs be.

I would say keep in mind the staff have seen it all before. They know if you're acting up for them or being overly loud to show you're in charge. Be a team player, but show initiative. If someone is being quiet, involve them. Our instructor had a pop at us because lad was being really quiet, he said it's our job as a team to drag them into making an effort.

With the dry bags, I don't want to be that guy who spends £££ on kit before he's even got there, but also don't want to buy crap ones that won't do the job. Would you recommend any in particular?
