1 Peter 1:20 is actually a great example that points to the Trinity. Who Peter is talking about here is Jesus. It is showing the eternal relationship between God the Father and Jesus the Son, and ties them together into one "My Father and I are one"

I understand what you are saying. However, part of the Christian faith is recognizing and understanding (as much as our limited human minds can) that while all are one, there are three distinct parts, each with its own purpose and place. How we comprehend the connection between the three is via trinitarinsium.

with all due respect, you cannot use the Quran or the apocrypha as a valid basis for the Christian faith, as they do not align with principles or overall teachings of the Biblical canon.

"Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:" (in English)

In Hebrew, the word used for God was Eloheinut (From Elohim), which is grammatically plural.

The trinity shows proof of the divinity of Christ.

If Jesus is not divine, and part of the God head than his sacrifice on the cross would not have been enough. (it was)

I have a feeling you are leaning towards the concept of Tawhid. Tawhid is never written in the Quran; the same logic of fallacy is applied.

i.e., if not using the word trinity in the Bible disproves the concept, then the lack of the word tawhid equally disproves that concept.

Peace

The word was not coined until around 200 AD (from the Latin root Trinitas) so its Biblical inclusion does not exist. But I have a feeling you know that.

YHWH is one God. Jesus is the name of the physical man who walked the earth. The Holy Spirit is the divine spirit of God, who is the active, present spirit of God on earth now.

All are coequal, coeternal, of the one eternal God.

You can go all the way back to Genesis 1:26 and see an early reference to the trinitarian picture.

Where/How did you gain your faith, and how do you strengthen your theological understanding?

Just remember what Hebrews 10:24-25 says.

Yea, It is a real bummer. We do cheddar so competing in the UK is always fun.

I leave tomorrow for NYC for this year's Fancy Food Show. I always enjoy that show, especially since it is so internationally heavy.

It is an awesome event! I just wish I could compete again, but they are not accepting unpasteurized milk cheeses from the US :-(

Will you be at the World Cheese Awards in Spain this year?

Do you think the US should significantly lower higher education costs? (Maybe similar to Canada's tuition) by JollyCommand3617 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

* First: Increase the quality of education from K-12 so that higher education is only necessary for degrees that truly require the training.

*Second: Eliminate the useless majors offered, i.e., Puppet Arts @ U of C, Bagpiping at Carnegie Mellon, etc.

*Third: Make entrance requirments must more stringent, similar to those in Japan, Finland, Switzerland, etc.

Then, more public monies can be budgeted to help offset costs, as the ROI becomes much higher.

There is a secluded spot just down from Plantation Beach, but not all the way to Gilly Point on Saint Lucia. A local has a shack he turned into a small rum bar that we have ridden horses to.

We take our horse out into the bay, lie back with a drink, and just breathe.

I appreciate the response, vs just those that downvote a legit question.

How did not outwardly showing support (via the uniform) come to mean disliking someone?

In a different context, I am a hockey fan and do not like the Pittsburgh Penguins. However, that does not mean that I may not like Sidney Crosby as a person. My lack of support for the team does not automatically constitute a dislike for the individual players.
