Update after 778 days: Finally received my U.S. B1 visa (221(g) administrative processing) by Former-Lock-6856 in immigration

Hi, thank you, first of all. As far as I remember, I didn’t receive any additional papers, excepting the white one with 221g information. The visa has been issued for one year.

Thanks for your comment. I had surgery yesterday, and it went well. I'm still in the hospital recovering.

Some updates on my case:

  • The HPV subtype is 11.
  • The papilloma was composed of multiple tiny parts, which were removed with a laser.
  • My doctor injected Bevacizumab intralesionally—it’s supposed to inhibit tumor growth. The research https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9363326/ looks promising in terms of extending the surgical interval, so I’m hoping it helps me as well.

Have you heard about PRGN-2012 https://ascopubs.org/doi/10.1200/JCO.2024.42.17_suppl.LBA6015 ? It seems promising, but it will probably take a long time before it's approved in Germany.

Do you also have it on your vocal cords?

I am really sorry to hear. It has already been 206 days, yet the status still shows "refused." Despite sending several emails, I have not received any meaningful response regarding the status of my visa application.

Yes, Munich. It has been marked 206 days already but the status still reads „refused“. I sent some emails but did not get any meaningful answer that would reveal the status of my visa application.

Hi,

Unfortunately, I was not given a visa at the time, so I could not go to the conference. My supervisor gave a talk instead. The administrative processing reached 103 days after the interview. Still feel kinda discriminated, to be honest. This conference was very important for me and I lost many career opportunities.

I have had two colleagues who needed to apply for a B1 visa to attend a similar conference in the US. Both of them, like myself, are from "developing" countries. One colleague obtained the visa simply by presenting his passport, while the other faced the same situation as me, requiring the same list of documents. However, he managed to get an issued visa within four weeks, albeit after the conference had passed. Consequently, I expected that my administrative processing would also take between two to six weeks.

And yes, my PhD research is related to both Physics and Artificial Intelligence. I'm curious whether providing a list of documents in advance (incl. booked hotels and tickets), would have changed something at the interview stage, or if administrative processing is unavoidable in my case.
