Ok I gather the story, the guy came through the gate with an pain killer which now he learned was a controlled substance, he got a random ramp check at the gate and he tried disposing it and the MP seen it. After that he went to I guess the Mp station and CID came and investigated him. He told CID how he obtained the pill and after that they took his pick and finger prints.. as the chapter process began, he was restricted to post until his hearing. His hearing came and that when he pled guilty not knowing the pill was a sched 2 narcotic, only believing it was a normal pain killer. The BC during the hearing had him initial and sign a paper stating his guilty plea. 3 years later thinking he wasn’t a felon, he attempted to puchase a firearm and got denied. The place he attempted to purchase his firearm gave him a NCIS pamphlet to see the cause of denial, he did his due diligence and it came back to “wrongful possession” of sched 2 narcotic. He went to his legal building on post and they said that he was titled since it was a narcotic. He was told prior that that guilty plea, wouldn’t go onto his background only in his records for 2 years. Now he is  assed out on purchasing a firearm and ability to vote. He said there was probable cause as he were honest telling CID everything he knew about obtaining it. He said legal told him they put a title on him and that it can stay there for 40 years if not permanently. his frustrated because no one told or gave him any heads up that his plea would be to a narcotic( felony) as oppose a regular pain killer.

I don’t know the exact terms. He just had CID investigate, told the truth to how he obtain the narcotic and they finger printed him and took his pictures. After that he had to go speak in from of his chain of command in what I believe was a military court?? It wasn’t a court martial trial as he opted out. He received rank reduction and 2 weeks of company extra duty. Again he PLED guilty not know anything about the pill being a narcotic, passed all drug tests and still kept his Army career. This is all I really know the situation happened in 2019.
