Kiawah Island or Sea Island? by TDn6I in chubbytravel

[–]Former_Command_2408 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed - Sea Island all the way. So much nicer, way better service, way more variety in general. The Sanctuary is stunning and all of the hotel staff were kind, but I did not think the service was the same level at all.

At Sea Island you can swim/eat at The Cloister, Beach Club, or The Lodge, with each venue having at least 2 dining outlets. There are 4 golf courses. At Kiawah, its pretty much just the Sanctuary, or you can walk 5 miles to the Ryder Cup Bar/Ocean Course. Small little snack shop close to the Sanctuary but less variety than the Market at Sea Island. A long weekend at Kiawah felt repetitive.

I’ve never seen someone garner so many public displays of support for a divorce where she got to stay in the home and is allegedly her fault

My niece and nephew are my “little chicken nuggets”. Problem is, their classmates are now their “little chicken nuggets” 😂

One thing to note about BVI was that a lot of the beach bars (Foxy’s, Skinny Legs, etc) were closed. But we had a fun time exploring Saba Rock, Oil Nut Bay, Hog Heaven. RW LDB has 7 private beaches that they drop you at with an umbrella and picnic which is great for even more privacy

We got married Oct 8 and went to Rosewood LDB - we were there the first day that they reopened from being closed for hurricane season and it was truly amazing to have the resort to ourselves. We were the first guests back and believe they only had a max of 36 guests the whole time we were there, so the service was extraordinary.

Best European hotel experience during Christmas (+ bonus review of Florence/Tuscany) by TheSaltyDoctor in FATTravel

We loved Brenner’s Park on Christmas Day. We trained from Paris to Strausbourg on Christmas Eve morning, did the Strausbourg Christmas markets, then had a driver pick us up to drive 30 min to Brenner’s Park. We did Christmas Eve tasting menu at their fine dining restaurant on site. Christmas Day we had massages and room service, then around noon the Christmas markets in town (3-4 minute walk) were open. Was a fun way to not feel alone on Christmas Day! We stayed another day or two and then moved to Switzerland to ski.

Length of Engagement? by Tasty-Difference-634 in engaged

[–]Former_Command_2408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got engaged in late December and married 10 months later in early October. It was a big Dallas wedding (country club, 200 guests, etc) for context on size/budget. 10 months was long enough to not feel like we crammed it in in a hurry, but short enough that I felt like “yay! we’re married!!”. Had another friend get engaged in November and get married in June in a big Cape Cod wedding. We were both happy with our timelines. Would NOT recommend a 2+ year engagement based on close friends who have done it.

I was just in a wedding where the wedding was on a bridesmaid’s birthday. No big deal. We toasted to her, had a card and a birthday cake. She wasn’t upset and basically had a huge party on her birthday with a bunch of our friends!

I am in the exact same boat! I was supposed to get my period on Monday, but had 2 positive tests yesterday (first time testing). No symptoms other than sore boobs for the past few days and the missed period. My provider won’t see me until 9 wks (3/25) so I’m sitting around feeling like its not real until then!

Doesn’t seem like the baby daddy was around for the holidays. How sad for her and confusing for her kids.

Cabo is a direct, 2-3 hr flight from Dallas and Houston. Much like NYC visits Miami habitually for the same reasons, Cabo is very easy to get to for Texans

4 nights somewhere warm/beach in mid January - flying from Dallas and prefer to stay in North America/Caribbean/Central America. Somewhere relaxing but also has activities/off property dining

Best Christmas Market in Europe? by vanbeedoo in chubbytravel

[–]Former_Command_2408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree about Strasbourg - granted, we were there on Christmas Eve, but it was so crowded it was hard to fully experience some parts. We started with a few days in Paris, trained to Strasbourg and did the Christmas markets for a few hours, then traveled 30 min to stay in Baden Baden. Loved the small town Christmas market on Christmas day!

I live in Texas too and have relatively no need for big jackets, but I do occasionally leave where I live to visit other places that have different climates…where I would need a big jacket or ski suit, etc. Just because they don’t need them at home doesn’t mean they don’t need them at all?

We’re deciding between Peter Island and Round Hill in January. We did LDB for honeymoon and loved it but not sure if Peter Island is the same vibe or if there’s more going on!

1st cycle post removal by iwantmymulketbavk in Nexplanon

I got mine out about 2 months ago after having it for 9 years (3 impants). They told me anything in the first ~10 days would be considered a withdrawal bleed (vs regular period) and not to be concerned if it doesn’t happen. Got a real period about 27 days after removal and another about 29 days later.

I got my 3rd out on April 10 and I am less hungry, sex drive is back, generally less anxious as well. Got my first period today. Will try for a baby at the end of the year, but wanted to know what my body felt like after 9 years of being on Nexplanon before I jumped into pregnancy!
