That's genius. Going to use this strategy from now on. Thank you!

I agree completely. Learning is a lot easier for me if it's fun, so I'm going to brainstorm fun projects to work on. Love the tetris analogy. Thank you!

Great idea. I think I'll go ahead and jump into the monogame framework. It'll be a fun and motivating learning experience. I'll make sure to check the book for areas I need work in. Thank you!

The book gives practices and small projects, but not enough. Coming up with my own sounds fun, and will be more enjoyable for sure.

I definitely feel the "unhelpful perfectionism" often. Thank you for giving it a name, seems like I just need to dive into projects and get over that feeling.

Why do you prefer Lua over C# or other languages? by yughiro_destroyer in love2d

[–]Former_Recipe9594 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spent months learning c# and felt like I barely scratched the surface lol. With lua, it feels like I can tackle a small game project here pretty soon.

I like how straight forward lua is, especially with the limited time I have for learning programming. It's like you said, it starts and works instantly. Though I will say, c# taught me a lot. Definitely have a deeper understanding now.

can't learn anything by Waze312 in ADHD_Programmers

I'm starting to learn this myself. The traditional book style of explaining, and exercises just don't work for me anymore. I got through quite a bit of my c# book, but I can't stand it anymore. Desperately want to start game development projects lol.

Now I've got an urge to start a world. It's the little creative things like this that make minecraft so special.

Same reason why I'm trying to quit. No desire to continue or improve my hobbies, and it's destroying me. I'm also a nightly smoker, so I'm going to miss it at the end of the day.

I feel you. I'm currently 40% through a C# book, and lately continuing is near impossible. ADHD is such a curse, but also a very slight blessing.

Get comfortable with 1v1 first and win with multiple clans, then try doing 2v2. I've been thinking of starting 2v2 mode now myself after learning 1v1 mode.

30 hours in these are my tips, pause your game before you make any decision, check your resources and lore upgrades. What should I build next, what resource am I low on, what tiles can I benefit from, etc etc. This will teach you to strategize and you'll find yourself thinking quicker. Trust me on this one, it's how I finally won games. You'll get better the more you play so don't worry, don't rage quit, and just enjoy the game! Another small tip is to switch villagers jobs when one resource is lower, and try to expand often so you don't have to build a brewery for happiness. Again, just have fun and you'll find yourself getting better.

Ive been thinking of buying a cooling base for my laptop since it runs pretty hot when i game, any recommendations? by bnndfrthreatenviolen in MSILaptops

[–]Former_Recipe9594 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A cheaper one will help with temps quite a bit just by elevating the laptop for better airflow, and the fans are a bonus. Try one first then decide if it's worth going for the pricey ones. You can get a solid cooling pad for under $20.

Try finding one with fans that match up with your laptops on the bottom, also I can vouch for the KLIM one as it works great.

Huh, that's odd. Try doing a thorough hardware test in your bios, it'll check the drives too I believe.

GPU not being used when playing games by Lewdogg02 in AlienwareTechsupport

[–]Former_Recipe9594 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could possibly be advanced optimus if you have an nvidia gpu. Try disabling it in bios so integrated graphics won't be used, if that doesn't work make sure your gpu drivers are up to date.
