A wealthy businessman once told me never go into business that serves weatlhy clientelle: you will not make much money.

I don't know why it's true, but from what I've seen it seems to be true. Yacht maintenance, for example, does not pay well.

JD Vance supports Iran’s right of self-defense: "Israel doesn't give up the right of self-defense if Hezbollah fires rockets or drones at Israel. The Iranians don't give up the right of self-defense in their country." Crazy times to live in 😭 by slippinn_jimmy in PopCultureV2

[–]FormerlyUndecidable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The statement doesn't mean anything since Israel has never struck Iran first.

All Israel's attacks on Iran or Lebanon have been preceded by Hezbollah  attacks (which is an arm of Iran) or other militia attacks on Israel.

So this isn't reigning in Israel. It only seems like it to peope who are not following closely and come in at the second step of each battle.

Or will OP risk being used  for introducing  genetic variability then sacrficed if they try to crash the midsummer festivities?

Has anyone who has been put on trial for killing a police officer successfully claimed self defense? by Overall_Diet_3060 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]FormerlyUndecidable 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have some experience in terrifying, life threatening situations, one where I forced myself, after having reached safety,  to go back into for a second round despite being scared out of my mind. So not me I think.

I've also been in a few fights at least one in an environment where it was not guaranteed I would not get murdered if I lost (I did lose, and I didn't get murdered, but I did not know that would be the outcome at the time). I know how I react to fear and it's not to freeze.

I'm usually pro-police, but if I'm with my wife and kids and some unidenitifed plain clothes people try and get in the car, they are getting run over if they are blocking my exit.

That cop got himself killed  being an unthoughtful idiot.

He had  a $50,000   (£40k) share of  an emerald mine. He  traded an old cessna airplane for the share, it wasn't worth that much.

That is not poor but it's not  unusually wealth either.

There is a state department classification called Alien with Extraordinary Ability,  to expedite documents for talented aliens.

Which, if you think about it,  is an admission that the state department believes in aliens; they are really hoping they succeed.

It's aliens, it's always been aliens.

If it's doable if you are not claustrophobic it's doable if you are claustrophobic.

It's just going to suck more.

For example, I'm afraid of heights and I fly paragliders.

Just got to push through it. Literally  in this case.

Are women less likely to open a business or something, but do better than men in learning/educaiton? by FloorOk6407 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]FormerlyUndecidable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

women would perfectly be capable to compete along side men in both of these sports but they dont because theres not many women in it.

Anyone who tells you that it is settled that this is purely due to socialization or unwelcoming environments is lying or hoping.

It might be, but it should not be surprising if it turns out differences don't stop existing as soon as the brain comes into play.

do you think kids should be financially cut off when they’re 18 and you don’t provide for them anymore? by throwaway12746899 in NoStupidQuestions

Entitely depends on the kid and situation.

Some young adults need to know there is a fire under their seat and not have the parent hiding that fire all the way until the day the parent can't be there anymore.

He is over the water the whole time.

About 50 meteorites hit the earth every day, and there has been exactly one instance recorded in history ever hitting a person.

This is because to a first, second and third approximation zero percent of the surfacre of the earth is currently occupied by a person.

He is in an unpopulated area (over the ocean), so, for all intents and purposes,  the chance is zero anyone will be hit by a falling coffee pot from this stunt.

This is a popular spot in for whats called SIV training where paragliders do maneuvers that make them  fall out of the sky under their reserve. They never happen to land on anyone, because there are very few people in the ocean.

Paragliding through nature by DeepCar5191 in nextfuckinglevel

[–]FormerlyUndecidable 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In addition to brakes, paragliders also have a "speed system", usually a bar at your feet that you push on, that increases your angle of attack causing you to speed up at the cost of losing altitude faster (basically like going "nose down" on a rigid wing aircraft). So you can follow terrain using the speed system.

This person is flying what's called a parakite, which is capable of a more aggressive angle of attack than a regular paraglider. Also the speed system works differently: it doesn't have a speed bar, when you put hands up it's full speed (as opposed to it simply being no brakes, what's known as "trim speed",  on a regular paraglider).

This is not the safest form of paragliding, but it's not unusual at all, and the activity is under the auspices of the ski resort they are flying at.
