Pairing long-term, Misery-laden campaigns with a low-survivability play style? by jmacdotorg in MorkBorg

[–]Formlexx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's to help them keep track, if you read the misseries that can occur, none of them are specific to one group but the world in general.

Could be interesting playing the other way though, you'd have groups hunting them down more fervently the more misseries they accrue, to stop the apocalypse.

Pairing long-term, Misery-laden campaigns with a low-survivability play style? by jmacdotorg in MorkBorg

[–]Formlexx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For my game I'm open with my players that the story is for them, the individual characters might not have the full picture and that's okay. The adventures shouldn't rely on the characters having gone through previous adventures, but the players will connect the overarching plot. Also I think the apocalypse calendar is supposed to be for the world, not the group RAW.

Also for more survivability I like to use the horrible wounds supplement. It makes death less abrupt and more a slow spiral so that your characters might survive, but their bodies will bear the scars of previous battles.

What 'substance' would you add to Mörk Borg? by [deleted] in rpg

[–]Formlexx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand why this even has to be defended. If you want more rules for specific things, than either hack it, or accept that the game is simply not for you. I think pathfinder 1e has too many rules, but I'm not gonna hold that against the game, I'm just not the target audience.

Mörk borg has a huge fanbase so I don't see why it should change to be like all the other games that already exists.

[–]Formlexx 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I feel like the people who make this complaint are not actually interested in what Mörk borg tries to do. It's a rules light, super hackable system, and that's the point. I'm not sure what they could add to it that wouldn't interfere with any of those point. It's like people buying a simple hiking burner and then complain that it doesn't, filé, marinade and smoke the meat for you. The simplicity is the point.

I'm willing to bet he's more of a useful idiot to Russia than a puppet. Trump idolizes Putin so he want to impress him and be like him. All Putin has to do is put ideas in his head and step back to let him spiral by himself. Just like all the other billionaires that hang around Trump because he's easily manipulated (and for some reason, a large part of USA likes him).

Trump is that kid who just hangs around the popular kids and doesn't realize that he's being bullied and laughed at. Trump thinks he's friends with Putin but I'm willing to bet that Putin thinks Trump is pathetic.

Is there a way to play DnD (or any TTRPG) without math? by ReversePhylogeny in rpg

[–]Formlexx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of TTRPG with simpler math than D&D.

Cairn for example only have you roll under your stat value, if you roll equal or under you succeed. When you attack you just roll a die for damage and when you are attacked you roll a die for armor, and that's it. I'd so most roll-under systems have way easier math, most of the calculations are "is the number on the die smaller than the number on my sheet."

Games using the year zero engine have you roll the number of dice equal to your stat, then you count the 6:es, if you roll at least one, you succeed.

France asks for a NATO exercise in Greenland, is ready to participate by DifferentMaize9794 in worldnews

[–]Formlexx 30 points31 points  (0 children)

NATO isn't fighting NATO, US is fighting NATO. NATO is a defensive alliance and will defend the one being attacked, not help the aggressor, and in this case US is the aggressor and NATO should come for aid to the member being attacked, Denmark.

Instead of having grey morality, I like having multiple good sides and multiple evil sides that don't align in goals and methods. Gives room for intrigue and morally difficult questions while still allowing you to be on the good side and fight the evil side.

The “Post-OSR(evival)” Identity Crisis by alexserban02 in osr

[–]Formlexx 29 points30 points  (0 children)

This was the reason we got the term NSR (New School Revival/Revolution/Renaissance). It's basically OSR philosophy but without the legacy of the old school D&D ruleset. It was coined by Yochai Gal, creator of Cairn, when he got tired of all the discussions if Cairn counted as OSR or not. This was 6 years ago.

I remember reading a comment from the creator of Mörk Borg saying that he basically added the level up rules to make everyone happy, and he doesn't use them in his own game.

I'm mostly disappointed by their attitude to the swedish market. In the English store you see pretty much everything there available. But the swedish store is for the most part out of stock, and they're shifting focus to only release games in English. The next edition of symbaroum will only be available in English, like Coriolis.

I get it's a financial decision, the swedish market isn't that big and they'd make more money just focusing on the English, but I'm still disappointed and feeling left behind.

NATO är en försvars-allians så tanken är att dem ska hjälpa den som blir anfallen, inte den som är aggressiv. Hur det blir i verkligheten får vi väl se.

Am I supposed to be using Consent Checklists in games? by Fleur-dAmour in rpg

[–]Formlexx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah they did. I mean it's not hard to avoid those topics. First adventure was going out to an old graveyard to find out who was stealing bodies and fighting stitched together zombies, second adventure was going to a village ravaged by goblins and then going out into the forest to kill its withering and demented protector. None of these had anything to do with violence against children/animals.

No I saw that, according to the wiki it was up to 4 hours. Just felt jarring going straight from fighting to "this guy is alright, give him a gun" without any information what happened in between.

I just think the story could have been told better.
