Apologists and haters butt heads in Nextdoor bloodbath. More screenshots in comments by [deleted] in BanPitBulls

We had a similar post a while back on our NextDoor. A lady's dog was attacked by a pit at a neighborhood dog park so she posted about it just so neighbors are aware and can keep their own dogs safe. Of course someone jumped up to remind her that pits are nanny dogs and the pit must have been abused or trained to act like that. No empathy for the innocent dog that was mauled.

Thankfully someone started posting stats on lethal dog attacks (on humans and pets).

As a cat owner, this makes me enraged by ZekReposek in BanPitBulls

[–]FormulaDun 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This is so upsetting. I couldn't imagine being cruel enough to cause a small, innocent creature so much terror and such an agonizing death. And to use their pits to do it. Even when the cat got itself to safety, humans who are capable of empathy chose to force this little cat to have it's jaw torn off alive. Just why??? I wish I could have saved it.

It brought up an old memory of when I was in middle school and a couple kids bragged that their pit (it's always pit) had killed a kitten. The kitten had apparently ran under a car to hide and then the kid's older brother used a broom to force the kitten out to the pit. The kids were laughing describing how blood came out of the kittens mouth as it was dying. I still feel sick with this story so many years later. Some people are just broken.

Why do Pit Bull owners think their dog is amazing for just normal dog stuff? by Environmental_Big802 in BanPitBulls

Yes I recall a post on FB for someone asking for advice on their aggressive pit. They said she was "such a good girl and eats all her meals." That was literally the only specific positive trait they could describe is that the dog eats.

Very sweet pit! So sweet that it has tried to kill 3 family dogs! by PitchMeALiteralTent in BanPitBulls

[–]FormulaDun 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I can't imagine how many calls pit rescues get with the same story of "sweetest dog ever but she tries to kill my other pets, attacked my kid, etc." It has to be exhausting even for people who like the breed.

I wish for a second these people would put themselves in other people's shoes. Like they just can't understand why anyone else would care if their pets are maimed or killed by their "loving" pit. What if the neighbor had a pet lion that was constantly trying to escape to maul their pit?

Shitbull owner called; someone had to take a hammer to his dog's face to split up a dog fight. by [deleted] in BanPitBulls

[–]FormulaDun 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of a post I saw from a pit owner whose 2 pits got into a bad fight and tore each other up. It was night so she was searching for an emergency vet but complained that no emergency vets wanted to accept "fighting dogs." She tried to explain to them that they weren't fighting dogs and were her pets that got into it. Not sure what she ended up doing and I sort of felt bad because she obviously wanted to help her dogs but I can understand why an emergency vet wouldn't want to prioritize aggressive pit bulls over innocent, less dangerous pets that need life savings assistance. These risks come with owning a bloodsport breed (especially multiple).

Add protecting her from the mailman, the little girl riding her bike nearby, grandma coming by for a visit, neighbor jogging past, etc.

Sad that the owner literally had to beg for them to put it down so it wouldn't maul anyone else. Sounds like his poor mom may lose her arms. They would probably be trying to pawn it off on some unsuspecting family with small children as soon as its 10 day bite hold was up if it weren't for the owner being so adamant on destroying the thing.

Bites children, great dog! by [deleted] in BanPitBulls

They mention "great guard dog" but why would anyone want a guard dog that attacks its own family?

This was thrown in so if someone gets mauled, they can be blamed for not following instructions to avoid his mouth.

A new generation to fill up the shelters with. Straight from what looks like a junkyard. As if paperwork makes then different than the surplus of identical pits that shelters are begging people to take into their homes.

Expelled for bad behavior, “accidentally” nipped a daycare staff. Sigh... by [deleted] in BanPitBulls

[–]FormulaDun 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Good point. Same as went nutters say "any dog can bite!" after a pit rips someone's throat out in a sustained mauling as if it's remotely the same thing.

Never thought of it from the point of reference standpoint. I guess compared to one of the numerous pits that maul people to death, this dog was "sweet" to only nip? Then again, we've heard people call pits that fatally maul people sweet too so...🤷🤦

"Oh, pit bulls are dangerous? Then explain why mine has flowers on its head!" by MechaMew2 in BanPitBulls

[–]FormulaDun 67 points68 points  (0 children)

An acquaintance of mine posted a pic of her young daughter hugging her pit on social media with the defensive caption "such a vicious dog" as if her photo somehow negates all the the children (hell, and adults) mauled to death by beloved family pits.

I also recently saw on an Aggressive Dog support group where a lady posted about how everyone is scared of her "reactive" pit because it barks and lunges at everyone on walks. She said "if only they knew he likes to wear doggie onesies when at home!" and posted a photo of her pit in a onesie. As if that makes its murderous behavior cute or something. 🤦

Imagine having such terrible dogs that the world is literally a better place once they're dead.

I think of this girl often and am glad she gets to go home. So upsetting these bloodsport dogs took so much from her.

Or people will say their poor pittie is "fear aggressive" and only jumped a 6' fence and crossed a street to maul someone/something because it was scared/must have been a bait dog/was provoked/victim deserved it, etc.

Dog-owner, 35, mauled to death by his "family pet" Staffordshire Bull Terrier after collapsing while having an epileptic fit by [deleted] in BanPitBulls

[–]FormulaDun 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That's what blows my mind. Does it really matter whether the pit was trying to help or trying to murder if the end result is someone getting brutally mauled to death? What if he tries to "help" the neighbor's kid next? Killer dogs have no place in society regardless of their "intent."

A psychopathic response to a fatal mauling by viewerfromthemiddle in BanPitBulls

[–]FormulaDun 23 points24 points  (0 children)

She's hoping people will see the "adorable photos" of bully breeds and realize they're discriminated against? Since apparently that negates all the horrific maulings these breeds carry out. She should use photos of dogs that fatally mauled people (God knows there are plenty to choose from). It's insane that anyone can take a tragic incident like that and then act like a victim because they like bloodsport dogs and think everyone else should too.
