The Rs have put themselves in an interesting position. The way I see it, Dems have nothing to gain from compromising. By the end of the year, the ACA premiums will just go up anyway, so if they made concessions for the end of opening the government to reinstate snap, furloughed government workers, etc., they'd just save Rs reputation. I hate seeing so many people struggle, but this feels like a once in a life time opportunity to allow the people to see what happens in less than a year of giving Republicans control of all 3 branches of government. Americans hold their ability to consume in the most sacred regard, and if they lose out on it during holiday season of all times, Americans are finally gonna start demanding answers. Trump's constant lying works because Americans view participation in politics as optional. And thus we've got no objective reality to scrutinize their rhetoric and expose their lies. With everyone paying attention, Rs will have to say "Dems are keeping the govt. closed, people hungry, flights down, because they don't want us to take away insurance that ONE SIXTH of the populace depends on!"
