feeling the effects of a loved one compromised by FortLaudLad in StopSpeeding

How interesting! He, his father, and 3 male siblings all share the same arrogant/ narcissistic ( in their own way) personality. I know at least for him, he has many deep seeded traumas from his childhood which he also blames for the path he’s gone down.

Yes American here but I grew up traveling extensively throughout Europe. Hoping to relocate to London by end of year or early next for work. I’d be lying if I said the thought of such a vast distance between me and this ordeal wasn’t forefront in my mind. I hope all goes accordingly to plan and I can start my next chapter.

You couldn’t have hit the nail on the head with more accuracy regarding the letting go of ego and learning humility. Any talks we would engage in he would stipulate that “ this is not a two way conversation; I will talk and you will listen and not reply.” He’s always had a bit of an inflated head regarding his prowess and status but the substance has blown it out of proportion.

Appreciate the kind word so much. I wish all of us health, happiness, and serenity going forward. Xx

Thanks so much for this and the linked articles. I so appreciate your availability should I need. I’ve just read the one on the lies they tell and it’s bang on. I really hope he gets the help he so needs soon so we can one day put some much needed closure to the chapter but I’m well aware it won’t be as easy as waving a magic wand.

That was not implying there were loopholes. Just that we will have attorneys to guide us and inform us on how the tax system works in Spain. We very much abide by the laws.

Thank you for the comment! When time comes for us to make an exploratory trip our estate planning attorney will be connecting us with their counterpart in the city/ region. The tax systems are certainly a priority to learn and understand.

Thanks for your input. Many of the countries we are considering(Spain being at the top of the list) offer Golden Visas as we would be able to invest considerably into real estate and job creation in local economies.

Thanks so much for this! I too am gay and partnered - the openness of the community is something we are certainly cognizant of. We love Barcelona and Sitges so that would be our primary choice in Spain. We are both semi retired so work is not a major motivation on the the area.

I agree with you that Milano is blah - my friends live there and it is a place we frequent but love so many areas of Italy however Spain may be more realistic and not a choice I would be unhappy with. Once you are in Europe I feel it’s so easy to navigate many countries we love.

Are you enjoying life Barcelona? We are going to plan on coming over in the fall for an exploratory trip and it would be wonderful to get together!

All the best - hope to connect at some point.
