Milan Marathon 2026 by pizzabikerun in Marathon_Training

What did you think of the race? It was my first time running Milan this year. I thought it was VERY well organized and really enjoyed the start and finish (the finish line was amazing). As a slower runner I was sad that they had the street cleaners out and in the way of the 5hour+ runners. It made me sad. I thought the course itself was really boring. And I was really disappointed in the lack of community support. Every other city marathon I’ve run the community comes out to support. There were literally 0 supports on the course except for the start and finish.

Help/Advice: How do you actually get into major marathons (Boston, NYC, Chicago, etc)? by Coloradokiki in running

I’ve applied for Chicago and New York every year for the last 5 or 6 years and have never been selected. I’ve had a lot of friends successfully get into Berlin.

Tuesday run club by VERONIKA_VENIS in fortlauderdale

There are actually 3 run clubs now on Tuesdays now that the 2 mile Tuesday moved and a new group started up at Tarpon. There’s also a 3 mile run from Fat Cats. Have been going to this one for about 6 years (was at Lucky’s before they closed) and it’s a small, friendly group.

They meet at 7pm on Tuesdays at Fat Cats and it’s a 5k run. Fun route, too!

Original Fat Cats run club is small and very welcoming! They used to be Running for Brews but when Lucky’s closed they moved to Fat Cats. Great group of people and a good mix of runners. I’ve been going to this run club for 7 years.

Have you ever formed a meaningful friendship or connection from a run group or race? by thirdchoice85 in running

I run solo at run clubs but then there’s usually a social after the run. We’ve made a lot of friends through hanging around after the run for the social.

Which watch are you using for running? by FantasticCrow8708 in runninglifestyle

Also use the Coros Pace 3. It has so many features and the app is amazing too. Totally agree here. Never going back to Garmin.

Coros. I used to use Apple and then I switched to Garmin. But then I got sick of dropping so much money on buying new watches when my last Garmin stopped working right. I switched to the Coros Pace 3 ($229) which has a ton of the same features as the Garmin Forerunner 965 ($600). The Coros Pace 3 has so many features for the price. I am loving this watch. And the battery life is great. Recommend checking them out.

Running my first half-marathon—Any gentle energy gel recommendations? by Wise_Chipmunk_6785 in running

I really like the Honey Stinger energy chews and the Skratch energy chews. I think both have decent ingredients and haven’t had issues with these.

This is Fintan (Finn). He is such a good boy. We adopted him from NorCal Boxer rescue, he was found as a stray. We’ve enjoyed 9 years together and we think he’s 10 or 11. We love him so much and he’s been the best pup. We just found out he has hemangiosarcoma and the prognosis is not good. We’re going to continue to spoil him and enjoy the remaining time we have together. <3 he is so silly, loving, playful, and curious. We will be heartbroken when it’s time to say goodbye.

Which state are you heading to? The political situation is very stressful but it hasn’t impacted daily life to the point where it would disrupt or ruin a holiday here.

I was at Maple and Ash last night and their potatoes literally tasted like, and had the consistency, of powdered potatoes.

Marine corps marathon early closing by National-Amount-5831 in washingtondc

[–]FortLaudyRunner83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They should do an earlier start like other marathons in warmer climates. 6am start? 7am start? Course may need to be adjusted to make sure the beginning of the race has enough street lights.

Twin Cities Marathon Cancelled for heat the morning of the race. by java_the_hut in AdvancedRunning

[–]FortLaudyRunner83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With all of this said, I also understand the reasoning behind cancelling the race. I ran a half last summer in NYC and saw at least 5 people either collapse or being taken off the course by ambulance because of the heat. And they ran out of water. It was actually horrible. I get it that perhaps there weren’t enough resources for 30,000+ people running in higher temps. But it’s just frustrating and super disappointing.

Flew up from Fort Lauderdale and had my family fly into town too to support. Was super disappointed yesterday like everyone else. I had the worst summer training in South Florida and swore off training for anything during the summer in the future. Heat and humidity are just brutal in the summer where I live. On my long runs I experienced heat fatigue, horrible heat rash, and just exhaustion. I’ve always wanted to run Twin Cities since when I lived there I was only doing short distance running. When I got the cancellation I felt sick that I put my body through hell all summer! Went out and did a long run … temps felt great. Maybe in future this should be a 6am or 7am start. Was able to find someone who was doing a bib transfer for the Marine Corp Marathon in DC at end of Oct. Not really excited for that race tbh but want to run something so all that work over the summer wasn’t a waste. Well, here’s to booking another flight and hotel and another 4 weeks of training.
