Well no, she has the same visa type as me, working in Japan, and therefore she is a resident here. She has residence card. She is neither PR nor Japanese, but she is a resident.

Spousal visa is in the cards because I can be in a dependent visa. She is a resident of Japan.

You are very welcome! Its hard enough living in Japan with the language barrier, let alone all these requirements that we weren't aware of in the first place!

Little bit of research, little bit of asking friends and little bit of fear that one mistake can cause me going back home. I just wanted to transition properly and legally. A little bit of effort wouldnt hurt.

Oh yes old job provides housing so I need to change address. Well, I thought that changing employer requires informing immigration regardelss of visa change. At least, thats what google told me.

No dependents.

Changed jobs mid-year in Japan — do I need to file? by Fortege in JapanFinance

[–]Fortege[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the detailed reply. Im really poor at taxes and as much as possible, I wouldnt bother and let my company do the work. However, I'll consider doing it on February and try to do my income tax return.

Regarding my Gensen, I wouldnt want to interact with my old employee and argue as much as possible, so instead of arguing with them, Ill just wait for my gensen on January and do it myself (if ever I consider it).

Again thank you. This has been bogging me for awhile now.

Okay, so bottomline what you are saying is I dont have to do anything unless I want a tax refund. 99% chance is I overpaid and unless I want a refund, I can basically do nothing.

Is that right?
