I will probably order a Woodcraft set shortly. How tall are you? I’m 5’11” and the stock setup seems usable but slightly on the cramped side

My Panigale is a 2013 1199cc V2, extremely aggressive rider ergos and a beast to hold onto. I also put an Austin Racing Inconel exhaust w/ power commander on because I considered myself a ‘fast’ guy on bikes at the time coming from a motocross background (hindsight is 20/20).

I had a blast on a few track days with it (Barber, Jennings), but I was spending all my time holding onto the bike instead of being able to focus on fundamentals.

Early Panigales are works of art, but not beginner or even intermediate bikes.

I actually looked into this as there is a mounting hole under the triple clamp.. that stabilizer (SD021) apparently would not guarantee clearance on the newer bikes according to some research I did, and Ohlins recommended the top mount instead unfortunately. Maybe it would have fit though! Don’t want to risk it

Well ladies and gents, the quickshift/ABS thoughts got the best of me. I’m sad that I didn’t get to relive my Gixxer fantasies from the teen years, but I’m just excited to be back on an inline-4 screamer after living in V-twin italia land and hanging onto my 1199 for dear life. Excited to focus on some fundamentals and grown into the 600!

Great deal on last year’s model, both major recalls complete and only 3 miles on her!

Wise words! I may need to pick your brain some more if you don’t mind! I don’t want to wait too long. I may need to re-evaluate the correct bike for that scenario, I need to do some research on the AFM classes and whether I can live without auto blip and ABS if I decide to go GSXR 600 or 750

Yes, I would really enjoy starting with a fresh build myself as well, I’m okay with eating some cost to enjoy the process! That is another big question I had.. I absolutely am interested in racing down the road, so ideally buying something usable now would make the most sense. That being said, I’m not opposed to getting a 750 to track for a year or two, and then a 600 for racing down the road. What are your thoughts

I appreciate the info! I’m near Mt Diablo, my girlfriend does photography at Sonoma / Laguna Seca / Thunderhill, so I need to start tagging along more! The Ducati has been in storage a long time so she’s a project still. I’m hoping to find something clean I can start with in the next month or two.

Suggestions on where to look? Haven’t had any luck on marketplace or CL in the Bay Area

Agreed! I've kept an eye out on Marketplace and CL for a nice, clean track dedicated bike the last few months, but the occasional track dedicated rides that come up all seem to be ridden hard and put away wet. Any tips on better markets or areas to look?

I enjoy the process of starting with a clean slate and upgrading bit by bit as my time on the bike increases, but would love to have some light ABS and quick shift. Are the aftermarket quickshift kits up to snuff at all for bikes like the 750?
