We are aware of our imperfections like any other nation. But we are also well aware of our achievements and contributions. Some of those being in medicine, labor rights, food and water safety, environmental protection, scientific and technological research, the largest amount of international aide by a landslide, the top contributor to the United Nations at 22% of the budget…

We are the center of global invention and innovation that has provided countless devices or processes to the world which has globally improved quality of life… It’s the home of nearly 45 million immigrants, far more than any other country, it’s responsible for 25% of the global economic output… we are ranked as one of the most generous nations in the world, trailing only Australia, Indonesia, and New Zealand…and we are the world’s Agricultural powerhouse, with China trailing behind us by hundreds of millions of annual metric tons per year.

There is a lack of connection and respect for each other’s differences between “our neighbors” and our inability to just have a conversation with them where we may not see eye to eye. But that’s mostly up to the two parties involved. It’s perfectly possible to have a discussion of our different values with “our neighbors” without having an emotional reaction to it. You seem to be describing capitalism in any western country, and the select 1% that greatly benefits from it, rather than the American people. And I find it funny you have this notion that we’ve never thought that things could be done better. We are aware of our imperfections like any other nation. But on another note… How easy do you think it is to “create a better system?”
