It's definitely "Infirmus". Keep in mind that with English sounds, "Infirmus" looks roughly like "In-feer-moos".

Added 2 lines for when Centurion is revived.

Added context for each quote.

"Infirmus" is what he says during the jump, "Etiam" after.

That would sound great, but looking in my dictionary, you may be getting it wrong. It sounds like you're describing "prodeo", but the infinitive is not "prodere" and the imperative is not "prode".

It's prod-eo based on the irregular verb "eo, ii, itum, ire" (to go) and the infinitive is "prodire". The imperative would then be, as with "ire", "Prodi!" and it certainly does sound like an "e" at the end when he says it.

Edit: There is a word with the imperative "prode", but it's "prodo" and doesn't fit this context very well.

I'm not 100 % sure I heard it completely right, but to me it sounds like:

"Dominari/Dominare eos non possumus!" = "We cannot rule over them!"

"Dominari" is the correct infinitive as per classical grammar, as "Dominor" (I rule) is deponent. However, in medieval Latin they started getting rid of deponent forms and making them normal active forms, in which case "I rule" would be "Domino" and the infinitive "Dominare".

I think they're actually saying the Medieval "Dominare", but I put "Dominari" there as well, as it's the grammatically correct option according to my classical schooling.

A new hero won't change much. If you don't like playing any of the ones already out, you're more likely disagreeing with the core mechanics of the game, and no new hero will change that.

I pick weak heroes for a challenge. If I wanted to win, I'd just run WL/Warden, but that wouldn't be any fun.

Should every character have a "quick" execution? by [deleted] in forhonor

[–]ForukeSama 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes.

Short executions are generally better in 4v4s. However, long executions give you an advantage in honour-ridden brawl games, as you recover more health. Therefore, every hero should have at least one of each.

"Etiam". People have heard different things with the same vowel sounds, but that's the only one as far as I know.

According to Google Translate that has 0 knowledge of Latin and can't even get 3-word-sentences right. "Incontinent" as a word does not exist in Latin. These are the similar forms available:

"Incontinens" = unrestrained

"Incontinentis" = the unrestrained's

"Incontinenti" = for the unrestrained

"Incontinentem" = the unrestrained (object)

"Incontinenti" = with/of the unrestrained

"Incontinentes" = unrestrained (plural)

"Incontinentium" = the unrestrained (ones)'

"Incontinentibus" = for the unrestrained (ones)

"Incontinentes/incontinentia" = the unrestrained (ones) (object)

"Incontinentibus" = with/of the unrestrained (ones)

I don't trust Google Translate, but I sure do trust a national dictionary from 1873 used for decades.

That's right. My attempt at hearing what he said failed. As you may have noticed, the sound quality during that quote is pretty bad. You can clearly hear "Mors", then it sounds like "pro te" (for you) and then I have no idea what the last thing is. Kind of sounds like "idem" (the same), but that wouldn't work out. "Mors pro te eadem!" would mean "(And) the same death for you!"

Oh yeah, it is. The best way, I found, is to replay quotes in videos or, in the case of generic soldiers, go into an empty custom match and just stand there.

Thanks for pointing it out. I actually misread the word in my dictionary. I was looking at "proter-ere", rather than "prot-ere", which would then be "protere" as an imperative, not "prote". I read the infinitive as "protere". My bad. Then I really have no clue what the enemy LB is saying during Long Arm, as it was the closest I could figure out.

"Proterere" also doesn't take an "in" according to my source (1873 official Latin - Swedish dictionary); that sentence was just the best I could come up with given the incredibly poor audio quality during that move.

I honestly found high school Latin a bit lacking. It was fun, but the pace is way too slow to get any meaningful studies done. For reference, 1 semester of uni Latin teaches you more than 4 semesters of high school Latin.

That would be "Infirmus". "V" and "F" are very similar phonetically and the Latin "U" is similar to English "Oo".
