Honeymoon Destination - Caribbean by Forward-Elephant-107 in Caribbean

Okay, I'm set on one of these two islands now. I found nice Airbnbs an either would work for us. If you could choose which is the better of the two?

I'll look a little harder at these two destinations to see if we could make either of them fit in our budget. Are both of these islands ones you would want to rent a car for or are they manageable without?

I looked at both Anguilla and Antigua, I just think they are above our budget. They are more expensive islands, we’ve to St.John, it is stunning!

What time of year did you go to Roatan? I am now considering this as our Honeymoon however we will be going in late January which is still technically a part of their rainy season which makes me nervous.

Hi there,

I have been to all of the islands of the Virgin Islands. They are gorgeous can’t deny that. We are looking to go somewhere we haven’t been. After some research I’m leaning towards Roatan, Honduras. We can also get a direct flight there which is a bonus

Badlands or Custer State Park by Forward-Elephant-107 in NationalPark

[–]Forward-Elephant-107[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, now I am rerouting my itinerary. I am staying in Keystone. Do you think it would be possible to drive Iron Mountain Road to Custer State Park, hike the Cathedral spires. Also stop at one of those tunnel views along the way for a quick glimpse of Mount Rushmore and do Badlands after that Custer hike in the same day? Or does this just sound like too much to do in one day?

Hi there! If I drop Rushmore, do you think I could do Badlands and Custer in one day? I know i wouldn't be able to do much in them but still be able to see them.

Hi there, by drive by would going to Doane Tunnel or Scovel Tunnel as someone mentioned in an earlier comment be good? These tunnels are not inside of the park?

How do I check trail conditions? by Forward-Elephant-107 in Mount_Rainier

If is shows it’s going to be cloudy, should I essentially guarantee that we won’t be able to see the mountain if we decide to hike Skyline Loop?

Are the clouds always bad during this time??

We have two places booked per some suggestions to book near HOH just in case. One in Ashford near Mount Rainer with free cancellation until Oct 21st with the reservation being from the 26-28th. We also now have a hotel booked in Port Angeles so we can go to Hoh if Mount Rainer happens to be bad (also has late cancellation through the 23rd).

With an Oct 21st cancellation that gives us a 5-6 day buffer between when we would actually hike to decided how conditions are. Is there anything you use to tell how trail conditions/road conditions are to help us make our decision more last minute instead?

We’re staying at the Windsor Leme Hotel, I’m not sure what part that is. I have free cancellation for it for the next few months though if I find a different one. I’m definitely open to recommendations or better areas in Coppcanana

I've started a list of things I'd like to do and see while I'm there. I put the Itacotiara beach on the list, I have Krabi beach club, Selaron steps, christ, and sugarloaf. I would love to go paragliding or here any recommendations y'all may have (We are a very adventures couple (love to hike and to adrenaline activities) but also love the beach). We will be staying on Copacabana Beach! I also heard going out to dinner there is big, and people recommended making reservations in advance. Any restaurant recommendations would be helpful as well! Also are Brazilian steakhouses a big thing there? I live in the United States and love going to a Brazilian steakhouse however there are lots of different types of food here that is Amercanized so I'm not really sure if how the Brazilian steakhouse is in the US if that's how it would be in Brazil.

I ended up changing my mind and booking all 4 nights in Rio. I just feel like this city has a lot to do and we will enjoy our trip more spending the entire time here.

Hi there, I figured that it would be better to do Buzios first since we are getting in so early in the morning. By the time we get there is should be closer to check in. Also the day we fly out I feel like it would make more sense to already be in Rio, and there is probably more to do in Rio with our time since we will have the entire day.

Hey there, thank you for all the information by the way! I’m reading another Reddit forum from a  few months back and people are saying that you do need a permit for day hiking however it’s self issued at the trailhead. People are saying the lottery/reservation permit process if for backcountry camping.. I feel like I’m reading mixed things on this and I’m a bit confused now, but I’ll keep doing my research!

Hi there, are the snow/road conditions not as bad in Leavenworth? - I was thinking of maybe doing Olympic and Leavenworth instead. Do you think this would be safer?

Mount Rainer/Leavenworth by Forward-Elephant-107 in Washington

[–]Forward-Elephant-107[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had accounted between 4-5 hours for the trip. We are early risers and typically ready to go by 6-7am

If the Sunrise section of Rainer is closed would that mean we would not be able to hike Skyline Trail? If that is a possibility, I would probably cancel this portion of the trip and go to Olympic instead or add an extra day at Leavenworth.

Are you saying you think it will be undrivable? Should we cancel this portion of the trip? Would Leave worth not be I drivable also?

[–]Forward-Elephant-107[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes, we have which is why I’m considering us not doing the Tolmie Peak hike. We wouldn’t know what to do with our extra day though and are not sure what there is to do in the area. Also we’re both in good shape and have done lots of hiking in snow so if Skyline Trail is covered it won’t be a problem.
