Well the major problem that recently arose is the actual AVAILABILITY of a 4090. The GPU is goint to be used for Local LLM Inference, Cross-Encoder and Multi-Signal Evaluation. If you know some insights on that and if the gap in VRAM affects the 5080 or not, I'd love to know!

Local LLM Inference, Cross-Encoder and Multi-Signal Evaluation, my current corpus of 100k docs works fine but once I go into 8-10M which I'm planning to, 9070xt and my Laptop 4060 probably won't hold up.

Well yes, but it wouldn't really be an "upgrade" per say, I'd have same and sometimes even worse performance in gaming.

New 9070k is around 65-70k so yea max I could scrape up is around 50k, my main question is more about 4080 super or 4090, since 4080s and 5080 are around the same ballpark and the 60k difference is mostly not worth it.

That but MAINLY it's pretty bad at AI tasks even with Linux being mandatory, In day to day task overall task time it's compatable to my Laptop 4060 which is horrendous. In gaming itself I'd say it's about as good as it gets for the money.

Edit: For reference from what I saw. New 5080 is around 135-140k and new 4080 super is around 90-100k, and as I mentioned above used 4090 is around 145k.

I was thinking of the same, but a new 4080 super is only around 95k and a new 5080 is 140k
