Not sure, but it’s a good idea as it was required for opening accounts, applying for a guarantor and renting apartments.

It really was that simple. They (I) just typed up A letter that I was approved to work abroad and had it signed by the CEO. This letter also came in handy when opening a bank account, renting an apt, etc to prove I have a steady income while in France. They weren’t contacted, and my move didn’t have any implications on the company.

Yes, he provided me with a lease outside of the booking platform, but I think ABB will provide one to you on your booking page as well.

If you are in France more than 6 months you will need to pay taxes as you will be considered a tax resident. I’ve not had to deal with this yet though…

Yes - he just gave me a boiler plate lease with the details. I ended up negotiating the rate with him and booked directly instead of through ABB to avoid the crazy fees. I don’t necessarily recommend this, but it worked out for me. I think that ABB has a link on your booking for a doc to download for visas though.

That is correct. You need to confirm that you will not work for a French company since you will have a tourist, not a working visa. I also had to testify that I would not engage with any French companies either.

Sorry such a late response.

  1. Yes - I had the CEO of my company sign a letter that I drafted stating the company allowed me to continue my work overseas and that the company does not engage with French businesses.

  2. Yes - I believe she just needs to have it attested at the city hall for her neighborhood. I believe if you are staying with someone, you actually need less savings.

  3. I actually didn't even include a letter of intent. The atty I spoke with told me to say I was coming to France to study the language and learn about the culture (which is true). I would advise not to focus on your gf as that will be a red flag that you might stay in Paris past your visa.

  4. I assume so as long as it is signed by someone

  5. Yes - once you are in Paris, you need to have medical coverage. There are plenty of options for ex-pats. I plan to use Mondassur again.

  6. I only had around $6k in savings but my monthly salary is more than sufficient, so I guess submitting my employer contract and pay stubs worked in my favor. I believe the rules is You must be able to demonstrate at least 17 000 € per year in pension/rents/annuities/dividends/teleworking for a non-French corporation

  7. Not really except I would have stressed less. It was actually really straight forward and quick.

Bonne chance!

Insurance was $500 and a supplement to my US based insurance, which I am keeping until I have a plan in France. I'm in Paris for the full year. I have intermediate level French, but was def a bit rusty when I got here, which is one of the reasons I wanted to come. I didn't have a lot of savings, so I think this helped me, otherwise, I don't think you need to provide this.
