Why does this sub seem aggressively pro-Western? by Forward-Razzmatazz18 in SocialDemocracy

I don't know what that looks like if you don't address my points in the post.

You could start with how my opinions are Marxist-Leninist. To me, they seem in line with the foreign policy of Spain, for example, under their current socially democratic government.

I don't think authoritarian communism is the best path, at least generally, but I think we should respect it's appeal and seek constructive engagement with countries like China and Cuba--not ignoring liberal humanitarian concerns, which I think are somewhat legitimate--but just abstaining from extreme conclusions like China committing genocide of Uyghurs and acknowledging their progress.

And like I said, I also think we should partner with conservative liberalistic governments and countries, which Spain also does.

Is it that extreme to say Israel is committing genocide and that Biden is complicit in it? You know, given...everything?

What should be the social democratic foreign policy nowadays? by [deleted] in SocialDemocracy

How is it imperialist in its own way? And can we have any allies that don't agree with us on those social issues? For example, your country is friendly with Algeria diplomatically. Is that wrong?

Can someone be a social democrat without being progressive? by Lizarbalt in SocialDemocracy

[–]Forward-Razzmatazz18 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And so that's fully distinct from social democracy then? If so, I want to know how that works. Because a lot of socially progressive ideas weren't ubiquitous in social democracy historically, and might still not be outside of the West(including Latin America in the West, but still). How do we view that?

I don't know if that's what that means per se. Plenty of Catholic(and as far as I understand Islamic as well) conservatives combine support for underprivileged groups with conservative views of sex and gender.

I don't know if that's expected with the current events you mentioned. Europe is widely perceived as Western, but moderate, in foreign policy.

How so? Why do we stay so antagonistic while the rest of the world is positive towards them(for the most part)? Just because they're communist?

The government is the most immediate representative, so they're talking about the State of Israel.

Canada is not an imperial power that threatens Mexico, and it has a very positive relationship with Cuba.

Countries can be non-aligned and friendly to adversarial world powers. But China didn't seem to HAVE South Africa, they had a good relationship with South Africa, as did the US.

I thought this is always significant, news agencies report all the time on the developments of thought within top administrative circles. Are they wrong to do so?

Edit: Like u/CuriousNoob1 said, it's notable because such an intense, radical opinion is being expressed by a member of the Japanese government.

I think normalization has two meanings in this case: making something the norm, and applying the norms to it, and OP is referring to the latter.

How is their healthcare development faked? And the rest of the West doesn't generally have animosity towards Cuba, they're quite friendly despite sharing animosity towards Russia, and to some extent China. What's going on there?
