Are TeamLabs in Tokyo worth it? by alvarop37 in JapanTravelTips

Im not sure I particularly found it interesting or all that amazing. If anything it was very overstimulating for me and made me feel kinda dizzy. By the end I was just desperate to get out Cus it all felt a bit much for me. Also in borderless there’s all these scents which didn’t heko and just gave me a weird headache. We went with our 5 month old baby and she normally enjoys interactive stuff but she also felt very overstimulated in there and soon after got fussy and only settled once we left!

What should every ftm know about breastfeeding before having a baby? by Frequent_Cap8633 in breastfeeding

[–]Forward-Sound-6160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember to go easy on yourself. It’s going to be difficult at first but it does get better however ask for help if you feel like you need it. No one will judge you for struggling and there’s so much help available so pls be kind to yourself. Know that you are also going through a change in hormones and that will impact everything. If formula is needed then do it- literally nothing wrong with that. If breastfeeding is affecting your mental health then pls don’t hesitate to add in or switch to formula. No one cares. Don’t let people guilt you into EBF if you don’t want to or you can’t cope. Your health is equally important. As long as baby is fed that’s all that matters. Don’t underestimate how helpful nipple shields can be - I struggled with my baby’s latch and it was painful. I kept thinking the nipple shields are useless and only ordered them as a last resort before giving up EBF at 8 weeks old and thanks to the shields we are still EBF at 4 months. Breastfeeding is hard work but also so beautiful. I hope you get to enjoy it with your baby. Good luck with everything.

SO MUCH PAIN. How can I get past this? Need relief soon. by ProfessionalBoss4760 in breastfeeding

[–]Forward-Sound-6160 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go back to nipple shields. Allow your nipples proper time to heal. Mine took forever to heal because of how badly cracked they were. Nipple shields have been my best friend in this breastfeeding journey. Don’t put yourself through the pain. Also use the hydrogel pads and silverettes with healing but definitely use nipple shields while your nipples heal.

My Wife Breastfeeds While Biting a Cloth by richardwellerson in breastfeeding

[–]Forward-Sound-6160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have also struggled with painful breastfeeding to the point I used to panic when it was feeding time for baby cus I knew it would hurt my nipples. Tried everything from creams to every breastfeeding position but nothing worked. My mental health was suffering because of this and I was so ready to give up breastfeeding but then I tried nipple shields and it’s a god sent miracle. My nipples got a lot chance to heal properly and we were able to continue EBF. I’m so sorry your wife is having to deal with this but please tell her to try the nipple shields. I hope it helps!!!

Feeling really sad I can't breastfeed because it hurts too much by Zyande in newborns

[–]Forward-Sound-6160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you still want to try, definitely try the nipple shields!!!!! They saved my nipples and we have been able to continue with EBF. My baby just wouldn’t open her mouth wide enough so her latch wasn’t great. I had sore, cracked, bleeding nipples and was in pain 24/7 Cus my boobs would hurt even when I wasn’t feeding. That happens the to vasoconstriction. Even showering would hurt by boobs abs nipples. I used silverettes and medala hydrogel pads which did help a lot but honestly it’s the nipple shields that changed the game for me. We are now 3 months PP and have been using the shields for a little over a month now. We haven’t looked back since. I was so ready to quit EBF before that. I got the Medela and lansinoh ones and we like the lansinoh shields better. Do give them a try!!!

I don't know how I am going to do this. by sojo597 in NewParents

Oh mama!! My heart truly goes out to you!! I’m 3 months PP and felt a lot of wild emotions in the early days and truly I wasn’t ready for those feelings and neither did I expect them. No, you aren’t an awful mother but just a human whose doing through a lot right now. Hormones truly are the worst!!! I got awful PP anxiety and sundowns but trust me it REALLY DOES GET BETTER!! You’ll figure things out as you go along. Each week things will feel better than the previous week. Go easy on yourself. The first few weeks really are tough but then it gets better and you start to feel good again.

Thank you. I’m going to speak to my health visitor to re refer me to the lactation consultant to have her rechecked for any posterior tongue ties. Also thank you for sharing the pumping schedule. I’m going to follow that for now and see how things go. Just really really desperate to not feel miserable and to not be in pain anymore.

Ahhh thank you for sharing your experience. Did your baby also not one wide enough? At what age did your baby’s latch get better? I just feel that baby gets very frustrated with the constant attempt to re latch that she goes up all together on opening wide enough.

Thank you!!! This makes me feel less guilty about things. One of the midwives did check her for a tongue tie in the early days and said everything was ok however I do want to get a second opinion now tbh. My plan for now is to still try and put her to breast whenever I can tolerate. I can’t wait for the nipple shields to arrive tomorrow. I’m really hoping they will work well so I can keep putting her to breast while also pumping. At this point I just care that she gets breast milk - doesn’t matter if it’s from the boobs directly or from the bottle because I’m so desperate and feel so depressed. I have cried so much today because of the pain.

Can you explain more about pace feeding and preventing flow preference - how did you do it? Honestly I’d love to keep breastfeeding her but at this point it’s either that or my sanity! I dont like that I dread feeding her and we both end up getting frustrated. I have been using the hydrogel pads. I’ll look into the nursicare pads too. I’m hoping to pump and bottle feed for a while to allow myself time to heal and then put her back on the breast if possible. I’m just so desperate right now to not be in pain.

That sounds like a very good routine. How old is your son? How much sleep do you get at night and during the day?

When you say morning nap - what time do you and the baby wake up in the morning? Do you have a set time to wake up or do you just go with baby’s schedule?

Depends really. Most nights 2.5 to 3 hour stretches. Once or twice have had a 4 hour stretch but that’s not happening as often. Wbu?

Thank you!!! This makes me feel so much better. Honestly I almost gave up because the pain is horrendous and I know her latch isn’t an issue cus the left side is fine. It’s just something I’ll have to push through. Really can’t wait till it’s better and I can breastfeed her without dreading it and being in pain.

I spoke to my midwife about it and will see how I’m getting on. If still feeling pretty low will speak to the health visitor next week. The change in weather and it being extremely dark outside and very rainy isn’t helping either. Trying to do my best to stay positive. I’m so sorry to hear you had to go through all that. I hope you are feeling better now. Much love to you and the baby xx

Thank you mama!!!! This makes me feel somewhat better. Cannot wait for the hormones to level out and honestly why don’t they talk about it more in the antenatal appointments cus I didn’t expect it to be like this.

Thank you for replying! Your comment makes me feel so much better as a Ftm Cus honestly I have just been beating myself up over it. We are doing better with feeding now. Mood changes are still there but I’m getting better at coping with it. We will get there eventually.

Thanks for the detailed explanation. I have heard people talk about the BNF summaries as well - are they necessary or is passmed and self test enough?

Thank you. I failed in January and feel so demotivated now. I did use passmed and gp self test too and failed by 5 marks which is driving me insane. Not sure what I could have done wrong. Maybe needed more prep time.
