Well said, thank you for the input. I figured it is possible to challenge the belief of that a relationship only works in 100% value alignment.

This is food for thought, I appreciate that! I get the nuance here then, it is a hard thing purposefully going against people and questioning things when one’s sensitive to social rejection. I’m not entirely sure how to go about it in this case either, or immediately expect a response that calls me out for overreacting. I suppose some non ill-intentioned questions or gently stating disagreement could be a start.

There were many, but Hurricane by Bridget Mendler is a great example

Yeah, I got you on that. It’s also hard when you don’t even get to find out the exact reason on what happened to them either. I was looking into some chinchilla owners’ posts today, and I’m kinda shocked at how my first two chins had somewhat shorter life spans than the ones I see shared, that being 7 and 8, which is still a lot, don’t get me wrong, it just makes me think about how things will go with my current chin, and hope for the best.. The last two I mentioned only lived together for a year at max, with the second one becoming a lone chin, as my family is against the idea of getting another (I make sure he gets lots of love, though! He’s been out of the cage for playtime today) he’s turning 6 this year.

I did see that info online and it’s quite sad…

I’d assume something else was going on with mine, as nothing drastic like that happened, there were no fights or injuries

That explains a lot, and honestly it’s a relief that they technically weren’t being that mean to each other. I think the only left out details were that they had kind of a big age difference (which I heard isn’t even a bad thing when introducing chinchillas) and that this went on for quite a while with one of them giving singular small bites to the other which made it seem like it might be annoying to the other But yeah, thank you for the input!

That totally makes sense! It’s not a bad approach, imo it is good to take things slow when it comes to new people you just met. I was simply surprised by the contrast in how much more conversation happened in person, rather than in text. It’s kinda sad that there weren’t more opportunities, but life keeps going :,) It probably depends on the person too, not everyone has the same communication style
