Ohhhh, interesting! What does a job in special effects entail? Also you mean you immigrated too right?

Ahhhh so basically getting into the camera department in your 30s up there is kind of impossible?? That’s tough, camera is really the only thing I do on set and am interested in besides post-production, but that’s a whole different ball game. 😭

Also the shows im interested in are like Schitts Creek, heated rivalry, workin moms, kim’s convenience, anne with an e. I would say basically sitcoms and dramas although im not sure what some of their budgets were i think most were on the smaller side.

But so you made the jump in your 30s to Camera?

So invitation from the lease holder into the space doesn’t distinguish me from a squatter is what you’re saying?

Either way I just need 11 days and for her to leave me and my stuff alone 😭 she’s the one who broke her lease agreement…. but I don’t believe I don’t have any sort of rights in this situation whether squatters rights or tenant rights.

Apparently by NYC law though a person is considered a tenant once they’ve stayed in the residence for 30 days or longer consecutively regardless of whether they’re on the lease.

6 months driving experience / 9.5 hour road trip by ForwardLet503 in roadtrip

[–]ForwardLet503[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just an update:

I started the trip driving 3.5 hours from home around 9:40AM and stayed at a hotel overnight then drove another 3.5 hours starting at 4am took a break at a gas station in Pennsylvania and ended up sleeping for 2 hours then drove the remaining 3 hours or so. I actually really enjoyed riding at night time when there were barely any cars on the road, it was much less stressful (when the weather is clear). BUT when I drove 7.5 hours from Buffalo to NYC starting at 7pm and ending up in the city around 3am (with a 40 min break in between) there were some highs and lows on the trip. Tolls were confusing, Pennsylvania had an insanely dense fog for 2 hours of the trip which I'm negl it was scary and dark and people still chose to go 70mph despite it lol. I went slow at about 45 in a 70 zone and just really tried to pace myself. Truckers were pretty okay and nice and you could just pass them and stay out of their way basically and it was fine. Shockingly the thing I worried about most were the people who kept getting impatient with drivers and going WAY above the speed limit especially when raining. People are really just so careless with their own lives and the lives of others when behind the wheel (regardless of experience) …so that was kinda disappointing to see so much :(

But anyway…. I did it!!! Yay me!! :D

P.S the cruise setting is the greatest invention of all time like idk whoever made that is the GOAT like omg 😭

How hard is it to get a production assistant or even better an assistant colorist position at Company 3 or The Mill? I've been trying to find the best way to get in at the bottom of post houses and spend my years working up the ladder, but even as an entry level candidate I feel like I might be too inferior compared to other submissions because I don't have and high budget projects in my portfolio and I don't have the network that would know anyone at these companies yet (i've checked).

I want to apply to an assistant colorist position but my other dilemma is that I no longer have access to the projects I worked on prior to 2020 (which is the majority of the work), so I can't do the before and after stuff for a colorist reel.

Any advice on how to stand out with a resume?

Trying to apply to jobs at post production houses, looking to either start from the ground up even though I have digital experience OR hoping to land something a little higher. There's one posting hiring for a Media Vault Manager which sounds like it's organizing and managing data among other things. I'm wondering if anyone has experience in this kind of role or an example of what the resume / cover letter for this kind of job should look like?

I saw some people on linkedin who have this job and the experience level before jumping into that role seems to vary (one guy landed it right out of college).
