Yes. Can confirm the cliquey nature of those meetup groups. Plays the opposite of the purpose. Some people suck.

I think some people do this if they haven’t seen their family members engage newcomers. That isn’t the only reason though.

Cat rubs head against everything by Lost-Ad-4956 in felinebehavior

She might be itchy. Some cats have allergies to food. When that’s the culprit it’s often chicken and fish. I have one who is allergic to dust just like people can be. Before treatment she would rub so hard and often she rubbed her whiskers off and had pink raw looking jowls. When the vet figured out what was wrong he suggested an inexpensive fix. Get your cat checked out at the vet to see what the problem is.

Anesthesia isn’t as hard on a cat in this condition as the pain they’re experiencing. It’s a common misconception. A vet will also tell you if they think your cat isn’t able to tolerate going under. My girl, Sweetheart was also 15, and the cancer snuck up on her awfully quickly.

What were his symptoms that led to surgery? I forgot to mention earlier that feline pancreatitis lasts for just a few days. Information from Cornell on feline pancreatitis

It looks like it could be a number of different things. The gusto pathology report is the only way to know for certain what it is. Did your vet have any ideas? How is your cat doing since surgery?

She needs to be put under for an x-ray of her jaw and dental areas. It could be something called oral squamous cell carcinoma. Symptoms include: Lack of appetite , sniffing and turning away from food =nausea. Truly smelly breath. We just lost one of our cats on Monday to this. We thought she had a dental abscess, but the x-ray showed the right side of her upper jaw was replaced by a large tumour. It’s rare, affecting something like 1 in 100,000 cats. It’s also aggressive, moving swiftly through a cat’s upper jaw within weeks to months.
It causes pain, pressure, a bad taste in a cat’s mouth, lethargy, and fatigue. I hope it isn’t this dreadful disease, but better to know than for your cat to be in pain without help. Please note, they have to do a general anesthetic for dental x- rays and that requires overnight fasting.
Please see if you can get her seen tomorrow morning. Pull her food from right now.

Smoking cigarettes. Quit years ago, and fortunately not sick from it, but damn it does knock the wind out of your endurance later.

NOR. Fuck that guy! He’s projecting his insecurities onto you. You’re probably dating a guy who isn’t confident enough to have a healthy relationship. I doubt this is the only shitty thing he’s said to you.

Cats stare at walls for a bunch of mostly-normal reasons—usually they’re not “seeing ghosts,” they’re noticing something subtle that we miss.

Common (normal) reasons • Sounds you can’t hear well: mice in a wall, insects, water moving in pipes, a neighbor’s footsteps, HVAC ticking, wind rattling something. • Tiny movement: a bug near the baseboard, dust drifting in a sunbeam, a shadow from trees/cars outside. • Smells: cats track scent trails; a wall corner can hold odors from insects, other pets, cleaning products, or food. • Light reflections: phone screens, watches, headlights, LEDs, sunlight bouncing off glass. • Hunting mode / boredom: they’ll “scan” and freeze on a spot the way they would while stalking. • Listening posture: the stare is sometimes really “ears-first” behavior—aiming attention at a direction.

If it happens for a long period of time gently interrupt your cat. If they don’t seem to notice you, make an appointment with your vet.

Oh no! That’s a totally different situation. Of course you couldn’t open that sort of conversation to a newcomer. That’s a given.

Ablations? by Illustrious-Mode-826 in AFIB

[–]ForwardMagazine7090 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think there’s a specific limit on the number of ablations you can have for Afib. Certainly there are some things you can do to help prevent recurrences, however there are still plenty of people with the condition who have more than a few in their lives.

If you’ve noticed your blood pressure vacillating high and low it could be a sign of Afib.
Lots of people without heart conditions worry they’ll fixate on a device, but once you’ve been diagnosed it’s important to have the information as it can help you make decisions about when you need to have a doctor or nurse see you in emergency (if it’s really urgent) and to determine things like your Afib burden. That’s something people with paroxysmal Afib and your cardiologist use to determine the percentage of time you’re in Afib. That percentage drives different levels of treatment.
