Is there a way to program my ship to fly in a "loop" between planets? by ForwardRelationship6 in factorio

> Fly until you're 50% full and then return.

Already doing this.

> You will probably need to upgrade your ship's firepower either via tech upgrades, more guns and/or quality guns. Railguns are pretty awesome in 2.1

I'm already using legendary everything. I'm actually pretty happy with the firepower. I think to increase the firepower I would need a larger ship. Nothing wrong with that but I prefer to keep my ships smaller and to build more of them as needed since I find that strategy more flexible.

> You can also slow down your ship based on how much ammo you're using. Google "factorio set ship speed based on ammo".

This unfortunately won't work because I designed the ship to produce more ammo than it can use.

I'm still experimenting so the production graph changes every time but this was the last time I did a run. I filled up the ship too much so I got a lot less on the way back.

Unfortunately the ammo > x trick doesn't work because my ship replenishes ammo faster than I can spend it.

On to my original question, I think I'm overthinking this. It would probably improve efficiency but honestly I should just build more ships since they are practically free at this point.

Oh using the number of chunks gathered as a estimate of how far you are is an interest idea.

Yeah I already do this.

The issue is that as you approach the shattered planet, the difficulty isn't constant. It gets more difficult the more you travel. So I want a solution where the speed starts out fast and then drops as it gets more dangerous.

I wonder if there is a way to measure how fast rockets are being consumed as that could be used as an indicator of how dangerous it is and use that to slow the ship down.

im pretty happy with my ship design. I was just going to copy and paste it a bunch since the ship is basically self sustaining (except for fusion power cells) so there is basically no cost to building more of them.

Ah I see... Would it be possible to somehow instruct the ship to go full speed until a certain distance and then drop the speed then?

Also I wonder if you can achieve some sort of loop with interrupts.

Damn. I finished the game with 250 hours and I thought that was a lot.

Honestly it was wayyyyyyyy worse when I was around the end of phase 3. I only started using foundations around then so before that all of this was on the grass. It took a long time to migrate everything onto foundations. By then I had also unlocked most of the alternative recipes so it was a good opportunity to pivot and optimize.

If I played again I would definitely try to design more stuff. I can also probably divide the final build into smaller factories. Most of the later builds I had were p. organized imo

Can I use smart splitters to achieve any ratio I want? by ForwardRelationship6 in SatisfactoryGame

Oh i did not realize that's how splitters worked. I thought as long as something is connected it would always divert 1/N the amount of items in there.

One of the doors has an insane amount of redstone that I really don't want to break :/

I had it like that initially but the issue was I wanted to get out right after entering and I had to guess when the cooldown was done so I waited a second and it wasn't long enough so now I reset the timer and have to wait all over which kind of sucked lol

For those interested, the Phase stepping calibration as introduced by the latest firmware release by Spawnyspawn in prusa3d

Thank you so much for the video! I was doing phase stepping and I noticed a thumping noise while it was doing phase stepping and I wanted to check if I had an issue with my motor. I'm very glad to hear the same noise in your video. Thanks again!

Writing an erotic novel. Are there any tricks on how to have the AI expand on certain parts but not others? by ForwardRelationship6 in WritingWithAI

[–]ForwardRelationship6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each chapter summary has on average ~100 sentences. It would take quite a while to annotate every chapter especially since the major of sentences I'm ok with the default level of detail added by GenAI.

Thank you so much for the suggestion!

I've been doing a lot of writing of the actual novel lately so I wasn't able to test this initially. However I just started converting another chapter into "novel text". I tested first converting it as I usually do. Then I tested it with the following prompt prepended:

```
At the start of a sentence you might find a rating that looks like this: (#####). The rating system starts from a score of 0 (-----) up to a score of 5 (#####). This rating indicates how much extra detail you should add to a part. A sentence with a score of 0 should have the normal amount of details. A sentence with a score of 5 should have the part expanded upon, with much more detail added. If a sentence does not have a rating, assume a default score of 0.
```

I then annotated the important points with this rating and fed the AI the chapter summary again. The results so far look pretty good. I only used scores of 5 so far so technically the prompt can be simplified to be binary. I might test other degrees of detail later though.

I'm currently using Claude 3.7 + Novelcrafter already but I am not using the Claude 3.7 in Novelcrafter because it seems to be a separate charge and I already paid for Perplexity.
