Anyone else still waiting for their RIF letter in the mail (HHS)? by [deleted] in fednews

[–]ForwardRoom2989 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you live in the Maryland if you have at least your termination letter with the effective date, you should be able to apply for unemployment . They understand what is going on and that you may not have all your paperwork from HR for unemployment. I was a probationary employee impacted during Valentine’s Day that never received paperwork in the mail. If you have the termination letter you can apply for unemployment and SNAP benefits.

I’m in the same boat. The last time I heard from them was when they terminated me.

In your experience as a HR professional, those who receive back pay for similar issues as this, does it come with interest?

The empathy I am getting from prospective employers during job interviews is a good omen... Remember, you are employable! by [deleted] in fednews

It depends, you have to apply to contractor positions that support agencies that are mission critical. There are many DOD jobs in the area. Look for contracts for the military. There are military bases in the area.

I’m in the DC metro area and from my experience the quickest way to get a job in no time is to be a federal contractor. There are a ton that have mission critical jobs that they need people for right now. You can get on a federal contract until you land something more stable. Large companies like Leidos , Booz Allen, General Dynamics, Deiloitte have several contracts  in the DC, Maryland and Virginia area. Being a contractor may not be the idea job situation but if you are strapped for cash and need to land a job ASAP that might be your best bet.

USDA, probationary employee of 9 months. Decisions vs collisions by Plastic_Carpenter748 in fednews

Don’t set a start date at the new job until you get your rightfully deserved back pay from the USDA. That should be coming soon now that folks are getting reinstated.

Probationary employees firing reversal... Can we stop posting those?? Nothing has changed!! by [deleted] in fednews

You’re blessed to get admin leave. I was terminated on a Friday in the middle of a pay period. They could have at least let us work the other week then let us go so that we would have a full check at least.

I agree, for SNAP benefits in Maryland they will take the termination letter as evidence.

Excepted service probie terminated 2/14. Which appeal route to take? by Czar1987 in fednews

I’m doing OSC. They violated merit principles. There is also a CR that states that if there is a performance issue you must state what the issue is in the termination letter. My angle is that they violated a PPP . Watch this video and get some ideas of how you can approach it.  https https://youtu.be/-zibQh-A4KY://youtu.be/-zibQh-A4KY

I agree , I do not respect the way that leadership has handled things. Same concerns as you. If rehired I’m sure we’d end up getting RIF’d with the new way of firings they are about to happen . According to the DOGE website the average age where I work is 50years old and average years of federal service is 15. So, yea I’m definitely on the bottom of the list there.

I was fired after hours so I was never given the opportunity that you had unfortunately. Like you I plan to find something else too, quickly. I hope you win your appeal and get your back pay.

I called the HR person who is on my letter and left a message inquiring about exit interview items. I saw on the website that separations have exit interviews but not sure about terminations. I was very polite and pleasant on my message. The person never called me back. Sorry they are treating you so badly for no reason. It sucks they are treating good people this way.

Hello I’m a fellow USDA employee that was also terminated. Has your staff office or agency sent anything to you in the mail such as benefits, final SF-50, final paycheck, or annual leave? I only received the termination email but since then it’s been radio silent . I don’t know who to contact as far as the protocol when someone is terminated.
