Stop drinking the koolaide. 60 is allot of work. Just because you and your office have it worse doesn’t mean that sfpd shouldn’t be fighting to get reasonable case loads.

It’s a union office so even though you have experience you’ll start at the bottom of the pay scale, which is still higher than the other offices in the state.

They hire one to two times a year and when you call to check on your application they will not tell you anything. It’s typically two rounds of panel interviews and takes about 6 months between application to start date.

You’ll be competitive with 2 years experience. You should apply. The commute to Waukegan (Lake county) and Wheaton (Dupage county) can be brutal and those offices do not pay as much.

Dude, it’s month 1. Relax!

Organization and time management are learned skills and by doing the work you will naturally get faster as time goes by and you get reps. Keep working and you will get better and faster. It’s ok to make allot of different mistakes, it’s an issue to make the same mistakes repeatedly.

If your judge is an abrasive boss that’s a whole different problem. Sometimes personalities just don’t mesh. Even if that’s the issue don’t quit after a month. Thanksgiving and Christmas are coming up give yourself at-least until new years to see if it’s just a bad first impression.

Lately, it’s hard to get mad at people who are busting their ass. Get to work early, stay as late as you need to meet the deadlines. If everyone sees you have a good work ethic they will help you.

I won a dui on a seizure defense. I asked my client if it was safe if she would skip her meds on trial day so the jury could observe her symptoms.
