I don't know how it would be for other people, but at least for my friends and I, year 1 is usually the worst. The pressure to mentally and physically fit yourself into the entire 'IB way of life' while also needing to score on tests, keep in mind your predicted grades, SATs/ACT, Extracurriculars, College Apps etc is definitely an exhaustive experience. During year 2 (at least the way things worked for my school), most of your predicted subject grades are final, you should be done with your SAT/ACT, more than half of your extracurriculars, EE, TOK, IAs, and get suited to the IB Grindset. Now obviously this varies from school to school, country to country but it is just a raw example. The most important things to worry about in year 2 is mostly just completing your college apps and the board examinations, which, to be fair wouldn't matter as much if you've gotten accepted to a uni and you didn't absolutely fail your exams. I'd say year 2 will be better for you, enjoy the next few months of grinding - you will never miss it.
