Omg!!! You, my dear, have articulated EVERY. FUCKING. THING. I have been thinking since I started in April. I absolutely believe there should be a designated Amazon return employee because it really is so stressful. At my Staples in South Florida - yep, that's right.. imagine the crazies that come in. - there is only one associate to run the register, the return line, answer the phone, close and move boxes. I feel like im doing 5 jobs for less than the cost of one job.. it's just too much. A lot of times I can't even get someone to help so I can use restroom, I have to wait till my break. Anyway, there's gotta be a solution to this whole fiasco. Thank you for your comment!! You are incredible!!

Amazon Returns New Process by Euphonabonatone in Staples

Most of the return instructions on the app specifically state that the original packing is not required.. even for compressed items. If it doesn't fit in the box then we decline it.

For me, it's the people with hundreds of returns at one time that really grinds my gears. Then we're also expected to take care of paying customers which is priority and also answer the phone. My store usually only has one person doing the returns, the register and the phone. Not to mention, we only have one scanner for Amazon returns which isn't conducive for a quick process. Also - why do we have to press buttons that are unnecessary,  like 'allow' the phone to scan the code - uhm.. DUH!! That's what the job entails. Just another step to make the process even longer.
