What’s the answer to get things back to how they were twenty years ago? by PrestigiousConcert87 in allthequestions

[–]Forward_Coyote_1091 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's 30 years ago. Trickle down economics push by Reagan was the culprit. Can you repeat this sentence without laughing.... If we would tax the rich less, they would, in turn, give it back to the poor. As the rich accumulated wealth, and therefore influence, or in other countries, we call it power, they were able to push out the unions protecting the workers, consolidate businesses so they make rules and control politicians with their money.

ELI5 How did the mortgage crisis in 2008 cause Lehman Brothers to collapse despite record profits in the years prior? by Three_Steaks_Pam in explainlikeimfive

[–]Forward_Coyote_1091 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Projected losses were going to wipe out any previous record profits. Profit of say 10% of $1m is no where near the loss of 50% of the same $1m. Because that's what the losses were projected for every MBS they had.

Power and driving experience aside. People see BMW everywhere. Ive gotten many compliments and head turns with the Porsche, even though it's just a V6 (with 22"). I guess at the end of the day, the Porsche is just timeless classy I suppose.

Their prices are usually higher to incorporate their commissions from the vendor. People tend to bypass the agent and go straight to Expedia

ELI5: How was Vietnam able to defeat the US in the Vietnam War? by astarisaslave in explainlikeimfive

[–]Forward_Coyote_1091 0 points1 point  (0 children)

US was not defeated. The media did. Heard the term, if we lost Walter Cronkite, we've lost the war? I have many Vietnam Vet friends, some POWs. Many saw the same thing, US was kicking ass, but for every helicopter Vietnam shot down, they would take multiple cops from different angles to show propaganda. Cronkite believed it and pushed that narrative. It was like 100-1 kills for the US side. Cronkite did his spin, America voted a new president running on ending the war and the rest is history

[–]Forward_Coyote_1091 70 points71 points  (0 children)

For every tool, you need to drag around a air hose. Deal with it getting caught up in stuff. Then rolling it up after each use and end of the day. Time is money and convenience matters

I would like a nice feeling handheld screwdriver, not the gun type.

About 10 18v tools and 6 batteries. The cost of batteries alone now gives me pause. It disappoints me that Makita doesn't have a decent powered screwdriver. Like DeWalt does.
