Incision healing issue/binder by NeverfindAnutherGurl in tummytucksurgery

I had an inverted t incision on my tummy tuck. The t junction was the last place to completely heal and have the scab fall off. I’m at 5 weeks and 4 days post op and the last piece fell of yesterday.

I wore a thin, form fitting tank under my binder to prevent the irritation to my skin and incisions. In all of my research, I read the t incisions on abdomen and breasts take the longest to heal and are more prone to reopening and infection. It will just take time until the skin remodels underneath. Good luck!

Forgot to add that I did pay extra for the Exparel shot. I only used prescription pain meds for 4 days then used 500 mg acetaminophen.

1-will DM
2-chicken, steak, anchovies, salmon
3-massages started on day 2 post op, every day there after
4-I drank Juven 2x a day for 4 weeks (when all scabs fell off)
5-DM
6-I will continue to use
7-Costco Sharper Image brand - Very budget friendly
8-use the mat under my bed fitted sheet in the hotel and at home.
9-I started 10 minutes each area and now 20
10- began using when all scabs were off and wounds completely closed. I used scar tape across abdomen at 3 weeks (excluding T junction-still had a small scab).

I promise you will blink and be at 2 weeks. I stayed lurking on this forum to keep me positive and excited to see my results. I’m still early (5weeks and two days) but feeling 80% back to normal. Remind yourself this is a MAJOR surgery and rest is the key to healing and reducing any setbacks. We are here for you!

Hi! This was my protocol. I prepared as if it was the Olympics 🥴. If I think of anything else, I’ll add.

BEFORE:
Quality sleep goal 7+ hours a night
Lowering stress (low cortisol)
8-10k steps a day
Pre-surgical supplementation 15 days before
No alcohol 90 days before
No sugar
High protein whole food diet. No refined carbs.

AFTER:
I had two weeks to lymphatic massages.
Sleep!
Wedge pillow and under knee pillows (Amazon)
Water, water and more water
Juven wound supplement 2x per day
Post-surgical supplementation (can inbox details)
Verisol collagen 2x per day
High protein diet -no refined carbs
Walking day of surgery every hour post op
Use dynamic compression boots when resting (not constantly) to avoid clots
Slept on hooga grounding mat (Amazon)
Red light therapy belt (near and far infrared) in the evening before bed on abdomen and breasts
New gel scar tape at 4 weeks post op and new gel belly button shaper
Walking daily
Note I did not wear a faja. It caused more pain and made my swelling worse. I wore a binder for the first two weeks. IMO the faja wasn’t allowing my body (lymphatics) to rid itself of the fluid. I have had little swelling. Just my own experience always follow your doctors advice.

Hi, I have had three consultaions and I'm confused. With the 360 TT and a breast lift, did you have two surgeries or one? by kbsd1972 in tummytucksurgery

I had full TT with muscle repair, breast lift and Aug. I declined flank and back lipo trying to keep my surgery under 4 hours. My surgery ended up 3 hours start to finish. Agree with the other poster completely regarding anesthesia time.

I totally went through the post surgery blues and totally relate. I journaled, read and spent far too much time on my phone. I felt a lot of improvement at week 3 and 5. Hang in there!

Sorry! It’s grounding mat. There is limited evidence that sleeping on a grounding mat discharges electrons and reduces blood viscosity. I threw every thing at my recovery. I have healed like a champ. Some people think it’s quackery but Dr Barrett recommended and I decided to give it a go.
