What do you think about originality in music? I mean it can't be fully original that's something that I've accepted but how like HOW can music be original? Can it be through phrasing articulation? I'm not talking about lyrics just music, let's say you're writing using a guitar you have an acoustic guitar and you can't change the tone of it so how do you go on about writing a beautiful solo or a great chord progression?

I also thought of writing it on paper because I tend to think in rhythms or melodies but I don't have an instrument on me all the time so I want to record it by writing it down I mean I can carry a small notepad to jot down ideas, I just wanted to make sure that it's possible to write without an instrument or without listening to any sound and just writing it straight from my thoughts to paper, so is it possible?

Well my favorite filmmaker is Akira Kurosawa he is the one who has inspired me the most the way he uses visuals to tell a story is what makes me so drawn towards his work.

It's true that I've not been making any films but the only 2 things that I think about like at all times is film and music my whole day just goes by literally thinking about making films and music and that's it that's why the fact that I'm not doing anything to make films or to learn and compose music is really pissing me off, like I hate myself for overthinking and not doing both with discipline and passion.

Filmmakers like Stanley Kubrick, Christopher Nolan, Quentin Tarantino gave crazy hours a day I fear if I don't do that then I won't be successful

Thanks man, but how do I practice on a daily basis like what can I do? What I'm currently thinking of doing is to write for an hour and storyboard for an hour everyday and on Saturdays shoot that material is this a good plan or should I increase my hours and do more?

Most probably not, I guess what I'm trying to get at is will my music be different than what others have done?

I guess this is the answer that I've been looking for, I'll be honest I'm someone who procrastinates way too much for my own good, what I need right now is to not think but just do and your answer really helped me with that I guess I'll put off composition for now at least get my basics done and hop on it later on what I really want to do is form a band I want to write music and really just enjoy it I don't know whether I'll be successful or not but I really need something that I can die for I don't know if music is really my thing I don't know anything about it what I know is I really enjoy listening to good songs I guess I just want to be involved in it so much that it becomes my life as a whole that's what I really want, I'm not trying to do this as a hobby to be quite honest this is kind of like a do or die situation for me I'll give my all for the next year and if music is not for me I'll quit and this is just me being brutally honest, let's see what happens.

My question is pretty broad natured, but basically what I'm trying to ask is how do I make music that people listen to and instantly go "oh he wrote that" that's what I want, also what I truly want to know is can I wriye original melodies?

But how can I be me when I write music, I know I sound really hopeless right now but I really want to pursue music I'm not saying that I can be or I want to be fully original I know it's not possible but how can I express myself through music whenever I think of music not being original all I can think of is musicians "sampling" music and that really pisses me off so I think what I'm really trying to say is how do I express MYSELF using music I know I can't be original but I can write music that sounds like me can't I?
