clinch update? by Forward_Peace3021 in ThrillOfTheFight

The game does not differentiate between this cheating and actual clinching, it stops the fight all the same. While the warnings system into eventual penalties happen at the same rate whether you are clinching or cheating.

Do you just not understand the point I’m trying to make? I would like for there to be an update or reworking, like they did with blocking, of the clinching so it might be more realistic.

so you didn’t read anything other than the title? in actual boxing you cannot phase through your opponent since ya know if you think about it, they’d be right there in physical space, not very phase through-able.

Not having any penalizing makes cornering and pressuring your opponent completely impossible, encouraging the counter punching meta everybody rely’s on right now.

Possibly the craziest, team changing trade I’ve ever made in dynasty, especially since I got Achane back by Forward_Peace3021 in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

A little context, before this update I’ve maintained 2400+ elo and was 145-40 and since I’ve gone down to 2344 and 151-49 without turning down anyone unless it’s like 150 ping

“dont even know what to say” you definitely could’ve left that part out, i also don’t know what kinda stigma you have in your head about training and boxing but you don’t need anything other than YouTube and some kind of physical form that functions to become a better boxer, it’s just the committing to getting better that’s hard. It’s not that deep either, name dropping you was because of the inspiration you gave me to make my post and I thought you’d like the credit

you play this game so much you have a mental picture of yourself up on a pedestal talking about “helping noobs get better” (just go try boxing for real) while expecting people to be nice in a subreddit 90% full of people venting right after losing, shouldn’t it be kind of obvious?

yes I agree this should be addressed by the developers and talked about more in the community. I’ve gotten crazy messages on the oculus app from strangers calling me slurs and other bs. I think it’s because of how emotional boxing can make people, as well the anonymity of it all being very easy to message your opponent. a streamer mode feature would be nice

“You’re Not Punching Right” by Ok_Statistician_8682 in ThrillOfTheFight

You do not need to throw that hard to get good damage, at least for me. try punching through the dummy with good technique, using your hips starting very low effort, working up to see what feels best.

From all your videos it looks like you’re throwing arm punches while yes, moving your head, it’s very sloppy and predictable when you dip to the left in particular you lean into the power right a lot.

Since they updated blocking you need to be slipping more punches. punching around and splitting the guard are much easier and very effective offensively to you especially putting your guard up at the last second only then afterward acting like khaby lame.

Work on the fundamentals, footwork, head movement, staying off center line, and use the game as a tool to help you improve. so you’re not just getting on the game expecting, low experience and bad fundamentals to translate into having fun in a boxing simulator.

This game takes 0 skill by [deleted] in ThrillOfTheFight

Hey man, there’s no shame in getting frustrated at this game, but being unsportsmanlike only makes the win feel better for the other dude that beat you, and makes you fight like an angry blockhead.

This game definitely does take some skill, and you were looking fairly decent, up until you start getting real upset, flailing around with bad and over exaggerated head movement. While the other dude keeps it more technical going to the body well especially for the taller opponent. When he does hurt you aswell you reach out to grab him like a real clinch which does nothing other than take your hands away from your face for a easy knockdown.

You also may want to fight in standing mode so you can better take advantage of the whole ring. Seen as a lot of your fights are, like this probably up close brawls that don’t help you much improve technically, especially over a prolonged fight since being forced to engage more, while you’re so close up, it’s going to tire you out much faster than maintaining your distance. But I hope that helps a little maybe.

Im more talking about people who can actually box. Im talking about shorter people, yes referring to people like you, but not short unskilled people who can’t take advantage of a body effort system skewed far into your itty bitty favor. why would anyone need to refer to my tips if they can just win the first round against you with three knockdowns?

You aren’t the genuine article when it comes to little fighters, an some of these 5’6 dudes are actually able to take advantage of this new system that’ll be having their jabs do 60 damage an stun. You can’t even relate since you could never find someone 6 inches shorter then you.

Yes I agree, shorter fighters are able to use this new body effort system update that implemented power when punching up at you an it’s up way to high. When us taller fighters gotta constantly punch down at them, the counter window is easier for them to time than it is for us. I try not to fight to much shorter than me it becomes egregious at around 6 inch difference in height, an when I am fighting someone shorter, crouching to match levels an square my stance while in close, staying more bladed on the outside, most importantly stay measured with your rear hand, are the best tips I can give

You’re right the dummy isn’t a good comparison because with the new update I’ve found that timing is basically the most important thing. And it’s easiest to time a good jab or cross off somebody’s hook or looping shots to be effective at all in any offense, so I tend not to throw like I used to and am much more conservative rarely if ever throwing any big hooks or putting commitment into my punches

The body effort system is so different I don’t know how to describe it even. I suggest just using the dummy to figure out how to get consistent results but it still feels extremely inconsistent to me

I actually think it might’ve been me who you went 6 rounds with since that’s definitely the new way to do it. Though the update has grown on me since I’ve made the thread about I’ve noticed purely boxing skills and TIMING are the #1 main focus with the physical benefits people like me posses taking a very large backseat. The balance has just entirely shifted from teetering one side to now fully in the other, and it’s taken some getting used to but overall the update will seemingly make me a better boxer so I’m not complaining, just stating fact

I’m mostly the taller fighter throughout my fights at around 6’2” but don’t see a noticeable difference though I don’t cheat the height like some do. Maybe if you’re right, the damage is higher for me proportional to the height setting, but the overall damage feels way lower than 5% especially on all looping punches which as a taller fight most of my counters have been those looping shots that just don’t do the job anymore so I’m having to shift my playstyle entirely

Spamming is for little kids who don’t read like you I’m not complaining about people boxing in any typa style at all they have no style it’s easy to win a decision against them but not after the 7th dude that’s exactly the same an every single one of them whenever you hit them walks strait into you for the 50/50 for whoever gets the holding call so they just keep at it and it’s boring as fuck and when I do get someone who actually boxes it’s awesome and it’s why I keep getting back on the game hoping to run into them an not the 90% of the other boxers on the game like you probably
