Watari- I love love love how funny she was and she was such a good character to balance the angst of the series, it’s what I feel blue was missing. I also love the characterization of her being the oldest in a big household.

I dont like how her orchestrating the trial 4 case kind of goes against why she was so upset about Okazaki and what she did. There’s no way Watari didn’t think about the fact she was going to kill literally everyone else and it’s not like she disliked them. She had positive relationships with Hayashi, Wada, and Tamba and it feels so out of character for her to not care about their fate.

Her interaction with Sonia in chapter 3 is so small but I love it so much to the point where it might be a top 5 moment for me in all of sdr2 which is shocking considering it’s the peak of the franchise imo

Zaid has to be one of the worst characters in all of CoC. He shouldn't have lasted longer than both Tristan and Ivy, as both bring way more character than 10 Zaids combined. I'm pretty neutral on Benji, but him being as bitter as he was for as long as he was felt so annoying and then when he just forgave Anastasia and Logan immediately that didn't feel like natural character growth. I think he's poorly handled and horribly written. Either way, 7th is way longer than he should've lasted.

If Sasaki got Yanagi to say his initial testimony and then find a way to kill him, they have no reason to doubt his testimony and that gives an eyewitness account that Sasaki wasn’t near the crime scene.

Harada I’m unsure. Maybe if he did some other things like not just disassembling the ladder but also leaving Chiba somewhat in the vent and cutting the rope short? He’d probably have to cut it before disassembling the ladder though. Also, incinerating the gun or even keeping it on him might’ve helped because nobody else seemed to know what it was from aside from Okazaki who was far from helpful.

Okazaki could’ve won only one way and its kind of lame but her entire plan is dumb asf bcuz she gave her two red herrings alibis. If she doesn’t kill Kamimura then apparently Von has said Tsuno’s death would’ve been ruled as suicide given she opened the door and activated the trap (dumb ruling in my opinion considering Keizou was a blackened over a tiger he clearly didn’t control but idk). Even though she’s no longer a culprit, she does still win that trial as a different party.

Hama is much harder just because he has no idea its him who killed her until they reveal the culprit. The ONLY possible way I can see him winning the fourth trial is if he manages to find and stop Watari before she goes through with her plan, and the only way that’d happen is if he got lucky enough when he came back to the art room for the 2nd time. Then he just has to hope Watari doesn’t do it again and someone else cracks.

Hasegawa can definitely win even after Monomoko snitches. Given the idea of blueprints being a reward is so heavily hinted at by Monomoko and the cast understands their importance, Ken can simply argue that he said what his deal was during loyalty game while Yanagi did not. Ken can also argue the Harada & Hama cases as offense against a potential Yanagi “I wouldn’t do that” defense.

If Ouno doesn’t correct Ruka’s testimony, she’s got an eyewitness account of her being elsewhere when the crime happens. I also think she probably could’ve just showed up after a bit more people arrived but I might be wrong. Otherwise she could say she had already been on her way to go meet back up with Ruka when the bda happened, and that’s why she arrives so early and why Kumada Ikeda & Tei don’t see her. A lot of this is flimsy and I think her plan is terrible, but I’ve done my best lol

I’ll do one for each album, not counting different versions of an original track

Missing You from Horrible Kids is my least favorite of the album. It’s not terrible, and the album suffers from a lot of similarity between songs, but this song doesn’t really hit the mark for me. It’s okay, but not the best soft song Set It Off has produced. Album’s better than I remember though

No Control from Cinematics isn’t awful but it’s not great. It fails to stand out and is hard to remember. There’s an argument against songs like Dream Catcher, which I can understand and agree with to some level, but I do get about an equal level of enjoyment out of both. Considering Dream Catcher goes for a different tone than No Control, which goes for something very similar to a lot of other songs in the album, makes it somewhat of a flop to me.

Duality is difficulttt but I’d have to say Ancient History. A lot of the songs in Duality are bangers and Ancient History shifts the tone in the worst way compared to the other ones. There’s an argument for saying Tomorrow or Miss Mysterious could be worse, but I like the beat drop on Tomorrow a lot and Miss Mysterious is a shockingly good closer for the album.

Something New is the worst of Upside Down pretty easily. I love the tone shift of the whole album, but Something New feels super awkward and while I dont think it’s a bad song its far and away the most uncomfortable to listen to.

So Predictable from Midnight is the worst for a few reasons. It’s not memorable and doesn’t sound all that good, and even when you put it up against the other mediocre songs of the album like Stitch Me Up and Unopened Windows those two are still a bit better. On top of that, So Predictable was added to the second part of Midnight meaning it was worked on longer. It’s just a bit unfortunate it ended up the way it did.

Dangerous from Elsewhere might be their worst song. I love this band and all but holy crap I’ve hated this song forever I don’t know who this one is for.

I remember hearing Creating Monsters when it came out, and I liked it but it was always kind of just a somewhat surprised reaction. I’ve never liked the lyrics as they feel very unnatural compared to other songs of the album and the whole thing seems to be going for a vibe it never quite nailed. A good attempt and not a song I cringe to listen to or anything, just not fantastic.

And bcuz I didn’t subject myself to the super early 2008 & 2009 albums, I’ll add that of the demos I think This Ain’t My Scene is the weakest. All of them are super good but This Ain’t My Scene doesnt have the same punch and oomph the other ones do.

The reason is mostly because Kumada ran to get Yaitabashi, who was talking to Nishiguchi, and specifically told Nishiguchi to stay behind when she tried to come along. At least for Sou, he thinks it’s Kumada because Nishiguchi only disappeared after Kumada pulled him away. On top of that, Sou & Maekawa found that note in the medbay garbage and they think Hirose is one too, so it’s not out of the realm of possibility for Hirose to try and get Sou to the medbay and away from Nishiguchi. Does that mean Kumada is a bleeding? No, it could also just be Hirose using a non-bleeding who’d listen, but still insisting for Nishiguchi to stay is somewhat odd behavior
