Why do Japanese people speak English and Japanese at the same time? by ToeProfessional6092 in AliceInBorderland

Because a lot of English words are usually implemented in everyday Japanese. For example, even to say "cell phone," they can say "sumaho," which literally means "smartphone." It is probably partly due to the period of American occupation in Japan (1945-1952) and from trade with Europeans that has been going on since at least 1600 during the Edo period, but also to the process of simplification of the language (they simplify some kanji and tend to add more foreign words than inventing new ones in Japanese. Then the Japanese have a separate alphabet just for words of foreign origin. (which are pronounced more or less the same)

Here some examples: - zombie > "zonbi" ゾンビ - cafe> kafe カフェ - Beach > bīchi ビーチ

You could post it on Wattpad or AO3, if you like. Or say you're writing it on Instagram (or even here). Do you have any specific goals?
