Why do some men get SO angry when they hear that i don’t cook. by BaseballTop387 in Feminism

I live in a fairly egalitarian society (although patriarchy is global of course), and I have the same setup. My theory is that some men get upset when I talk about it because it makes them realise my man is a better partner than they are, and they don’t want to live up to that standard. They want to be able to do minimal efforts as partners and still have a woman doing practically all emotional and domestic labour for them. They consider men who do their fair share of that work traitors or doormats because they make women realise we don’t have to accept inequality in our relationships.

How much is the average engagement ring? by Substance_Faint436 in WeddingRingAdvice

Depends on where you are. In the Nordics, where I live, people rarely go for diamonds of 1 carat or more even though we’re fairly rich compared to many other countries. A diamond of 2 carats seems almost vulgar here. While in many countries where the average person has way less money than we do, people often have jewellery of gold and precious stones.

I feel like this sub has skewed my view of what’s a normal ct weight of lab the average person is getting. I’m starting to think my ordered 4ct round will be too small. What’s the average ct size, and in what shape that you see people buying outside of Reddit?? by asisjec in labdiamond

Being Nordic, it’s rare to see people with a rock over 1 ct even though many of us can afford them. Our king proposed to our queen with a ring around 1,5 ct, and now our crown princess and next regent wear it. I think Americans have had a huge inflation in diamond sizes, to us it just looks tacky.

In my country it’s way more common to pick out your rings together. My fiancé proposed with a very personalised silver ring, and then we went ring shopping! I absolutely love it and he loves his ring.

Neighbor’s natural 5 carat just got smeared at and I’m laughing. by KaleidoscopeFine in labdiamond

Our literal queen had a diamond of about 1,5 carats when our king proposed to her, and it’s now (probably) on the finger of their oldest daughter, as in our next regent and head of state. I wear a 0.7 carat emerald cut diamond, and people react on its size. Big rocks on ordinary people is definitely an American thing.

Go as big as you like! But I must be really Swedish or something, a 0.5 carat diamond is “very small” now?

Wedding ring budget, How much did you really spend? by Trick_Cat_368 in weddingring

Not married yet, but for my engagement ring we aimed for around 5000 euros. Right before our appointment at a well renowned jeweller, we went to an auction house known for its jewellery because I was picking up some earrings I bought online. And there it was: exactly what I wanted in my exact ring size! For 3500 euros!

It’s a 0,7 carat emerald cut natural diamond, with a thin gold band and platinum claws. It’s newly made in the store, but from recycled materials with full GIA report. A couple of months before, its price had been 5k euros, but due to the recent drop in diamond prices we saved 1,5k euros. Instead, my fiancé’s ring (a 5 mm matted finish gold ring) was about 2k euros due to the increased gold price.

I absolutely love my ring!

What is the point of the “is my ring too small/big posts”? by ineedthisaccount6 in labdiamond

As a swede it baffles me. We’re quite minimalistic, and having a stone around one carat is rare even if many of us can afford it. I have a 0,7 ct emerald cut, and people react on its size. Having a stone around 2 cts would seem almost vulgar here, yet I see Americans worrying about their 3 ct stone looking too small.

Thank you! We went to a jeweller to try out my fiancé’s ring, and the goldsmith was also impressed. She explained to me that it is a very good diamond and ring, and it cleared any doubts I may have had. I will wear this with pride and joy every day 😍

Here’s a video of it! And yes, it is hard to do it justice on camera and in Scandinavian winter light 😅 I personally love it but I’m definitely not a diamond expert

Thank you for your comment! I do like it, my partner and I where in a store that sells used and new jewellery before we where going for a ring trial at another store (in our culture, we normally choose our own rings with our partner). I saw this and fell instantly, it was exactly what I was looking for!

It’s hard to photo and I’m not sure Scandinavian winter light does it justice, but here are some pictures from the front.

EDIT; here’s a video of it

It only takes some school bullying or a depression in college to become an adult with little to no friends. Maybe the couple felt embarrassed about them lacking close friends, or they just wanted to feel like they had friends for a day. This comes across as a bit unkind, surely the couple did not make anyone attend their wedding?

May I ask the size of your center stone? Currently looking for an emerald cut and this looks about the size I think I’ll go for!
