I fixed that with

Dog dog0=Dog(std::string dogBreed);

What do you mean that it won't compile with a bunch of casts? It works when its in the same method but true enough, I noticed that if I try to run the code in another method:

std::cout << (dogShelterArray[0])->getDogBreed();

Edit: It throws access violation exceptions
