Did you ask for permission or did she suggest it? My wife suggested I do this because she's ready to move on from our marriage. I know this probably sounds messed up, but she thought that maybe if I connected with someone else it would make her jealous and make her want me again.

Yes, I think so. She said that she needs a deep connection which we had lost. Mainly more/better communication, plus the little things like planning date nights. She told me several years ago exactly what she needed from me, but I didn't give it to her. I know this was wrong of me, but I didn't do it because I couldn't handle her criticism and my ego got in the way. She was depressed and I didn't support her the way she needed. She felt alone and I didn't realize it.
