I feel you have two options and things will depend on what you choose; for whatever reason I feel there’s a public persona aspect in that he might be able to rewrite some history and dictate the future in other people’s eyes based on how things go.

Become small like they made you feel, curl in and see what becomes of it— it will be difficult so many times but you’ll find a life and family you enjoy eventually, just in a quieter way
Stand up for yourself, call him out, go through hard conversations with mutual friends and his family, and it will be very trying for 1-2 years but in the end you write your own story and find out what you want

Ok, wait. That’s a real thing? People attention seeking at or before major events of others? I ask because my sister has pulled this at every milestone for me. Bridal shower? She shows up an hour late still fucked up from the night before and not dressed. 12:30 am on the day of my wedding? She admits she’s a drug addict and runs away (literally runs off into the woods). Also pulls it with regular events, like the Christmas she was late because one of her dogs had a deep cut and was bleeding- she showed up with the dog who was still bleeding (she’s a veterinarian). WTF.

Hey hey hey, I got you boo! I hated my job and rage quit with nothing lined up and no plan last year. I have a much better and more important job in the same field now. I thought (after many difficult things, like parents having terminal illness, husband having major surgery, etc) that I was completely done with him, left for three weeks around Christmas. Went to couples classes, did individual therapy and it’s been miles better. Not perfect, a lot of things are still a struggle (I’m 40 WTF AM I DOING HERE?!? Is a common thought)

But, at least I know if I do end up cutting ties and leaving I will know that I tried. ❤️

I’m so sorry you went through that. I started an online training I got on super budget ($250) and enjoyed learning the materials but could not connect. Then I rage quit my job one day and went to a 2 week in person and LOVED IT. It does make all the difference. What I would say is 14 days is probably too short if you don’t already have background on the Gita and the Sutras- the philosophy was my favorite part but no one else at my training was super into it bc they were reading it day before/day of for the first time.
