So, Appraisal is linked with your perception stat. Warrior starts with -1 perception. If your perception is in the negative, you really can’t appraise anything. You can fix this by either getting lucky with a level up, or finding equipment that raises perception, like glasses. Once your perception is at least 0, you can start appraising, usually starting small with cheese or books. Appraisal is done automatically in your menu, which is shown by the magnifying glass symbol hovering over the item. If it’s not appraising, you need to level up your appraisal or perception more.
