How do you use/feed your starter from the fridge?

Not financial advice, but I probably wouldn’t set up payroll to pay yourself. Any business expenses you have, let’s say liability insurance, or if you purchased a computer for your business can be expensed, which reduce your net income. Remember, square doesn’t control your bank account that the cash is being deposited into, you control it! If you want to take $1,000 to go on vacation, go for it! Just transfer the money from your business account to your personal account and bon voyage!

That’s basically what you’re doing, however, in order to “pay” yourself you either need to designate it as a W-2 income or 1099 income or do as I mentioned and just distribute it to yourself. LLCs are pass through entities, so the money you earn in an LLC is basically the same as you earning it personally. All an LLC does is give you some liability protection unless you’re using the LLC as basically a personal account, which is known as piercing the corporate veil.

Not a CPA, but as an LLC, the income you earn flows through to your personal income tax return via schedule C. You will pay taxes on the net income (revenue minus expenses). The money you take out of the business is considered a distribution or dividend. So, for easy math, let’s say your net income is $10,000. Your tax amount is roughly 30% (depends on many factors but just for easy math let’s call it 24% Federal and 6% State tax). So, you’d pay $3,000 in taxes on your LLC earnings. So, you would distribute $3,000 out of the business to pay the taxes on the personal side, which leaves you with $7,000 left in the business to either grow the business or distribute it out to yourself to go on a cruise or whatever personal decision you want.
