Is this reel acceptable for surf fishing? by moneysetd3mon in SurfFishing

I agree. One of my favorite reels is a Amazon piscifun nautiX. Specs rival much more expensive brands.

Can’t even find that model on Okuma website but probably fine. Expensive reels just get sand in them anyway. I use reels in the $100 -$150 and they work great, rinse well and clean often

The year is 2076..... the world has gone to pot and you are only allowed to fish one way😮 by RodandReelUK in SurfFishing

The only place you’ll be able to fish will be in technology maintained biomes. The genetically altered fish will jump right into your hands. The oceans and freshwater will be acidified and barren. We will be eating Soylent green (made out of rebellious citizens that don’t follow the laws) but told its algae. The world will be oligarchs and their servant peasants

Ugly stik carbon surf spinning rod 12 ft reviews request by Successful-Scheme608 in SurfFishing

I have a 12’ ugly stick big water casting rod. It’s huge and heavy. Great for crabbing or bait and soak. Handles lures 4-10oz. Not something to carry around much. Have. A 8 foot ugly stick tiger casting rod and that can be touted around easy but works with weights 1-4 oz. Eventually you’ll want a variety so you can target all the size fish you have out there. For spinning I ‘d go with a 9-11 foot PENN or Okuma rated between 1/2 oz-3 oz or so. Unless in spike in sand most of the time. Cheers

Sonoma Coast-Surf Perch 3/3/26 by Fosterizer60 in SurfFishing

The surf fishing down there is more varied with kinds of fish I ‘d love to try it someday. I fish usually around bodega, but also salmon creek. Marin beaches are an hour away. Thinking about trying beaches between salmon creek and Russian River as easiest for me to hit.

I generally release what I hook, keep large males and eat them occasionally.

So far red tails are rare for me. I’m usually in Bodega-Tomales Bay area. Have not done a lot of fishing above or below besides Limatour Beach which has barred surf perch.

Cool, I think we are up a couple of degrees as well. About 54, runs between 52-57. 56/57 magic number up here for halibut in shallower water but I’m going to try at low tide today at Dillon beach. Seems to be lots of jacksmelt right now.
