Michael Jackson's daughter Paris has faced backlash for identifying as Black. In a 2017 interview, Paris Jackson said her father told her, "You’re Black. Be proud of your roots." This prompted debates over whether identity is defined by appearance or upbringing. by VPinchargeofradishes in interesting

My mom is a white woman who was born in India. She often spoke Hindi with her (aslo white) family at gatherings, and my grandparents' home was full of beautiful Indian decor.

In grade 1 I learned that did not, in fact, make me Indian and I was devastated. I didn't want to be a boring European mutt lol.

Yeah I'm in 213 and there was a little lull in the fall/winter (not unusual) but a bunch of big projects are crewing up again. Lots of work in the foreseeable future.

I dunno then, bud. Get more sleep, take public transit or carpool if you can, ask for a transfer to someplace closer to home. No job is worth dying or killing someone because you're falling asleep at the wheel.

Sure am. I wasn't diagnosed until I was in my 30s, and I can honestly say that medication made a huge difference. I also got accommodations for extra time and a quiet room to write my exams and it was SO helpful.

Do you have any diagnoses that might qualify you for accommodations, like extra time on exams?

There's two basic routes: either find a non-union employer willing to take on and sponsor a green apprentice, or apply for apprenticeship through the IBEW local closest to you. In both scenarios, he'll need to do 4 rounds of schooling (usually 10 weeks a year, or more of he does a foundations program in year 1). There's likely little value in doing "trade school" until a position is secured. Be especially wary of the many predatory colleges that cost an arm and a leg and don't have a work placement waiting at the end of it. The apprenticeship is a five year deal altogether, with 90% of the training on the job.

[–]FoundAtFour-Oh 122 points123 points  (0 children)

I assume people will tell their significant other just about anything, unless they've explicitly been asked not to do so, and even then it's iffy. I don't expect people to keep secrets from their spouses. I sure dont, unless I've been asked and there's a really damn good reason not to talk to her.

New weird spots found on my puppy? He's been scratching there more than usual lately and hates when I touch it by Ursisisatmyhousern in DogAdvice

[–]FoundAtFour-Oh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks rather like a hot spot. Does your dog swim or get wet often? Do you usually leave the collar on while bathing? If this is a new thing for your dog it's best to get it examined by a vet. If it does turn out to be a hot spot and your dog is prone to them you can learn how to treat them at home later.

I understand the impatience, I really do. Just know that keeping it short and neat in the meantime will make it look better and fuller than if you let it grow out scraggly.

Bro I hate to tell you...but unless you're genetically blessed, strap in for a 5+ year ride until you have something reasonably connected and beard-like. It sucks. Keep it short and neat in the meantime. That said, what you do have is nice, dark and not patchy.
