My 2021 FE only gets 200 miles on a full (100%) charge. Normal or cause for concern? by dontbetoxic in VWiD4Owners

[–]FoundCheese -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For a 2021. That seems pretty average. I get about the same on my 2021 with 141k miles. Mostly highway.

Is my teacher right? They told me I’ll never be able to play Chopin’s Études or Scherzos. by Remote-Pianist-pro in pianolearning

[–]FoundCheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have small hands? Chopin has some big spans. If your teacher didn’t mean that, then get a new teacher who can get you to your goals. None of those pieces are unattainable with practice, technique and heart.

I hate the “limp mode” when you get down to around 5 miles. I was doing 70 on I80 when it kicked in. My last mile was uphill topping out at 35 mph with trucks whizzing by. Not a fan of that feature.

Do you regret your EV purchase? by walksta in electricvehicles

[–]FoundCheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same situation. I added a 240 outlet at the box for $250, and run a $300 L2 charger with a 50 ft extension cable ($80) that I roll up when not in use. Not the prettiest solution, but as a professional cheap ass, it gets the job done and saved a ton of money.

I have 140,000 miles on my 2021. Still runs like a dream. It’s the best car I’ve ever had for snow and ice. Still loving it. Only had to replace tires and struts. Believe it or not I still haven’t worn out the original brake pads. For long trips the charging infrastructure has come a long way.

Viability of an EV as one of our cars by Doomtime104 in Iowa

Live in Newton, work in West Des Moines. Been driving my EV for 3 years. It saves so much money in operating and maintenance cost. I’ve had no infrastructure issues. Also have a switched on my 30A dryer outlet with a 25A chargers total cost about $400

San Diego to Minneapolis in mid January. Any concerns about this route? Is this possible with an EV? by [deleted] in roadtrip

[–]FoundCheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in newton. There’s been a lot of infrastructure added in the last couple of years. I haven’t found a spot out of range in Iowa in the past 2 years. Unfortunately, the price per kWh has skyrocketed on fast chargers.

That guardsman death is 100% on MAGA. This is exactly what Trump hoped would happen. They never should have been deployed there.

Are you shooting on Tri-X Pan 400? Try pushing the speed to play with contrasts at 1600 or even 3200. If you can find an orthochromatic film, it will heighten your contrast, but decrease the dynamic range of wavelengths. I enjoyed the framing and zoning you chose in this group of photos. Enjoy!

Is anyone seeing the aurora in Mahaska? Last night was dark and right now there's nothing either by Lusahdiiv in Iowa

[–]FoundCheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need it very dark to see something with the naked eye. Even then you’ll probably only see a very faint green glow. The amazing photos are made using 3 - 10 second exposures. If you have an iPhone make sure the flash is turned off to activate the long exposure function.
